One of the most meaningful things I got out of this project is getting an insight on how an entrepreneur started and being able talk to them as well as get advice on what I can do to help my business in places they wish they had someone to do the same for them. Things they wish they knew, things they advise to look at and if I am willing to put my all into it. Understanding its okay to be scared of taking risk because as I was told we need to get comfortable with being uncomfortable, and honestly that is something that stuck with me because nothing is ever certain. In fact I could not put it in better words. The other thing that i found most meaningful was the fact how much he loved doing something he loved. He was able to live a life on his own terms and speaking to him just made me want to go after what i want to do in life... even as a friend i look up to him he is someone that i can ask and be comfortable asking questions about business and he loves to answer what i have to ask because it something he has experience with. |

It really is a eye opener when seeing how difficult it could be when trying to start up a business from scratch. It takes a lot of effort and dedication in order to successfully have your business grow to a very successful yet stable business. As long as you have the right tools, knowledge, and the right people around you than it could work out very well in the long run. [Name removed] is definitely someone i would go to for advice later on in my career when i open my own business because he knows whats important and how to structure a business on his own while making a good and steady in come. |

The most meaningful thing about this project was to actually sit with a man that grew a business more than 60 million dollars. I think that is pretty incredible and I am thankful he is in my life and a plethora of knowledge for when it comes time for myself to put a business in action. He had a lot of great insight and knew a lot about the industry. He also confided in myself that he never saw himself as a business owner. I think I respect him even more that he built this business up on his own. He didn't inherit this company from his father and asked to take it over. He is truly a role model to look up to when it comes to challenging work and dedication. I also think this project was meaningful because he gave several details on topics I need to keep in mind when starting a business. More specifically, he spoke about the problems he faced when having to manage humans. I believe that could most definitely be the hardest thing to do. Humans typically do not want to change and if they do want to change it is motivated by an outside factor such as money. I will keep this in mind and consider taking some psychology courses that may help me when it comes to managing staff. Overall, I liked this project. It definitely opened my eyes to everything that goes into creating a business. I learned a lot of valuable information which I plan to use in the future. |

What it was more meaningful to me when he said, there were not too many seafood restaurants in Los Angeles, now that I think about it, it is so true, and also if you go to the seafood restaurants that we have around in LA, it is true that they are not pretty at all, I think it wouldn’t be hard to steal some costumers from them. I am not into real estate at all, I think kind of dislike but after this, I think I would like to learn a bit of real estate, and it is so true that real estate houses, land in California are super expensive, and the minimum wage rate is going higher and higher as an employer, I was happy to see the minimum wage going higher after this, I am not that happy anymore; also he mentioned how important was the location, also I think it would be a good idea to open restaurants in Mexico, since labor in Mexico is super cheap, people work more than 8 hours per day. I do not know if real estate is expensive there, but I am pretty sure that is less expensive than here. He mentioned technology, if we go and look for the owner of the restaurants its usually old people, or people that does not know much about technology as a young entrepreneur and young adult I have that little advantage over them. I liked his advices about interest rates, and I think it is a great time to take a loan, because of interest rates are super low since 2008, interest rates have been super slow, and they will not stay low forever, so I feel like it is a good time to invest money, and take some debt, before interest rates go up. Houses nothing to do with the business, but I feel like he advised me to rent in a cheap place now that I am young and have no kids, and to focus on my business, I should not go into debt for a house in this time of my life. As a conclusion I really liked this sir, and his advices, I might ask him for job, so I can start learn a bit the business, and one day open my own restaurant. |

what I had learn from this project is that it is essential to be communicable and be able to virtuously interact with other people in other to become a successful entrepreneur. Social skills are import in day-to-day life, as well as in business. Being able to effectively communicate and transfer your own thoughts and opinion to others is an integral aspect of being a successful entrepreneur. Furthermore “social capital” provides entrepreneurs with three beneficial factors: “enhanced access to information, increased levels of trust and cooperation from others”. However, communication does not lie in the foundation of business it is just an important mean of sustaining it. I firmly believe that successful entrepreneur must find a “golden mean” and combine confidence and ability to listen to others. These key elements display that interpersonal skills have an essential role in a life of entrepreneurs’ and significantly influence their performance in business. |

It was very meaningful this project to me because I had the opportunity to see an example of the importance to be persistence and dedicated when following a dream and how the difficulties a person faces help him to improve and keep going. I understand that it is not easy to become an entrepreneur, there are many obstacles in the field, and my biggest challenge is not to be afraid to start. The person I interview did not go to college and does not know English very well, he came to this country without papers, he had nothing but desires to succeed in life, and what I got form his experience is the importance to be prepared not only to face the needs that people have, but the competition that is around me. Also, he told me the importance to bring customers and keep them, not letting them go, by giving them the service they like every time they come, because their presence in the business is very important and if they leave with a bad impression they will never come back and they might tell others about their experience and they will scared possible customers and my businesses will not do well and that will not only affect my workers but my investments and profit in general. Also it is important for me to learn how to manage my credit and to know the places that could help me increases my credit, and be on time for my payments so my record will remain perfect. |

Most people had considered to be an entrepreneur and to be their own bosses. Though there are so many benefits to being an entrepreneur, there are just a few people that can to try to make their dream come true and do it successfully. Like David, my interviewee said, we should establish three things; a drive, a plan, and self-discipline. Firstly, we need to know what we want and have a passion to go through any challenges and hard times. Secondly, we must have a great business plan, which is not just for ourselves to follow, but also for the investors or banks to attract them when investing in us. Third, to be an entrepreneur, we must have self-discipline. We should work efficiently. Especially, when we just start our own business and don’t have any employees. At the early stages of starting a business, it’s easier to be distracted by any kind of entertainments and succumb to failure. To be an entrepreneur, I think learning some basic knowledge will be helpful, such as the basis of accounting and finance, the interpersonal skill, some basic law and regulations, and technologies. We don’t need to be an expert in those fields, but we at least need to have a basis of knowledge and understanding of each to help provide support rather be a hindrance on you in the long run. Another trait to have to be a successful entrepreneur is that we also need have the ability to know when to take a risk and handle fierce pressure. Many people have great ideas, but they are too scared to lose or they feel frustrated when they met with challenges, big or small. To be an entrepreneur, we also need have more patience on our business. Everybody wants to immediately start making a profit when they start a business. However, every business that starts from scratch needs time to attract their customers’ attention and gain a market presence. Some entrepreneurs can’t wait and give up long before succeeding. Ultimately, to be an entrepreneur is no easy feat to accomplish and it requires us to build upon our knowledge, skills, competence, and particular personality to brave the unknown and excitement to be your success story. Despite the challenges, for every successful entrepreneur, it is always important to remember that if the first business model fails, it doesn’t mean it’s the end the line for the next attempt. |

1. After this meeting, I learned a lot of things from this entrepreneur. She told me how to keep and develop the customers, and improve the competitive. The most meaningful to me about this project is the importance of integrity and the quality of products. These two things are the company’s basics. A good integrity not only can keep lots of customers but also can attract many potential customers. It is a very essential method to make your company develop stably. It is like a person who has a good integrity, all of people trust him/her. If he/she has a product, most of people will buy it. Same thing for a company, the good integrity is very well for the company’s development. And that the integrity can improve the employee’s efficiency. 2. The quality of products decides a company’s future. If the company cannot keep their product’s quality, this company will lose their customers and potential customers. When a customer get a great effect from your products, he/she can recommend to his/her friends and family, then there are many of potential customers go to your company. It is an important chance to make these potential customers to real customers. More and more people can know this company. Therefore, the profit and competitive can be increased. In the long-term development, it is the company’s advantage. This entrepreneur uses these two things very well, so she can do this business for a long time. That is why these stores can be the customer's choice. |

The most meaningful part of this project to me was getting to know someone who has already done what I am studying to be. To be able to talk and have a conversation with someone who has experience. To get tips and suggestions from someone who thinks those tips can help me in the future. To learn from everything they talked to me about because they are ahead of me. To learn from their mistakes that they shared with me and to make sure I try not to do the same mistakes. In addition, to remember to go by the laws when running a business because you do not want to get into problems. Always be ethical and do what is right. When stuck in an ethical dilemma to see the effects of both sides. This project really helped me in knowing what to expect once I start my career. To always meet new people because networking gets you a long way. Also, to always stay open minded and be alert of any threats for example, competition to your business. Moreover, to be aware that starting a business is not easy that it needs a lot of dedication and time. To put time into your business because you invested lots of money in it and you do not want it to fail. Also, to not expect to start earning money in a week that it takes time and even if one fails at first to never give up. We all may fail but we must learn from our failure and remember that no one succeeds without at least failing once. However, if one fails many times remember that we do have options to sell our business. When selling the business make sure not to sell it for less than what it is worth. You do not want to lose more money than you have already lost and sometimes your business is worth more than what you think. Lastly, this project helped me in making sure that I take it step by step and not to try to rush everything at once. I think it opened my mind and made me think of things that had never crossed my mind. It gave me an opportunity to see how I am going to prepare myself before I start my own business. |

The most meaningful thing about this project was being able to connect and learn valuable tips and tricks from a professional that already works in the profession that I plan on pursuing. This individual before I even told him I was planning on interviewing him was guiding me through the process of starting my own business, knowing that I wanted to start something similar to his own business making us competitors. But continued to tell me about positive competition as in how we can help each other out by sending clients down to each other’s shops for stuff that we may not carry. After hearing all the good things he had to say the following day I started the first step to becoming a business owner. Now I am beginning my career at a much faster and productive way not running into so many roadblocks that I would of ran into before and possibly stopped me from pursuing in starting a business. This project means a lot to me because, I was still unsure if I was going to start a business or not but after this interview the decision was simple. Hopefully with my business my life will change for the better, I will be able to do what I love and make a living off it. But the road does not end there it also opened up other ideas for possibly opening up different types of business. I will definitely put the great information I received by conducting this project into good use and spread any knowledge that I learn along the way. |
