This assignment has taught me a lot. I see that it takes dedication and persistence.I have learned that it takes special planning and researching to come to a decision on what business is right for oneself. It is important to seek the right kind of mentors and financial help. Their are important factors that need to be assessed, like how much of ones time will need to be invested. One can not give up easily.Sometimes we will have to experience trial and error and learn from it. We need to be confident and risk taking. My interview went very well. This gentleman had many hardships. He was robbed a few times. He was judged because of his race.He was even harassed by authorities and had to fight for his money. I have learned that if he can be successful despite all his risks and trials then I can too. It is important not to give up on our dreams of success. There is always something learned from our trial and errors. |

What i found important and meaningful was his reason for becoming an entreprenuer. Creating a legacy. He kept repeating about setting a legacy for his children and his children's children. Hearing him speak in confidence and without pause says a lot as well. Knowing that he has his mindset correct and set on his goals makes his words just that must more stronger and meaningful. Someone who doesn't sound confident who is giving advice is the best to listen to. However, someone who speaks in confidence can be listened to much easier. Lastly, I thought that his advice at the end of the interview was most meaningful. Being confident and focused on your goals and aspirations must be present before you decide to make such a huge decision. And even in any decision you make. You should always stand behind anything and everything you wish to do. I think he got that point across to me. Knowing the market, knowing other entreprenuers, knowing what your possible future is and outcomes are can assist you in making right decision and with that you can be successful. I think the advice given to me couldn't have been any better. |

The experience of interviewing another entreprenuer to gather insight, How other's approach the entreprenuerial life. First thing was to choose an entreprenuer. Which was the most difficult decision to make, due to an abundance of entreprenuer's Naturaly I wanted to do an impresive project, using a high profit and sucsessful businessman and his business. I later decided to go with Mr. V, a small family run, frame and oil painting retail business. my decision was based on the idea of getting the most from my small business mngmt class. By interviewing a businessman, who is not using the web to advertise, or has any formal business training other than on the job training. He is not using any modern form of advertising or manufactureing techniques. He remains using traditional methods of advertisement, "word of mouth". By interviewing him and incorporating the technique learned in your class, my intentions are to get a better grasp of what not to do. I know in business things are never sure and one may need to close shop at anytime. He gave good insight in the,"what not to do" department. His interview went well i believe, in the sense that he expressed his desire to be competitive, with his competition. Yet he does not know where to begin. I recomended this particular class. He is shy to stray away from the advice of his father. A mind set that can be self-destructive to any small business. So I cant say whether he'll be attending in fall. I think I made a good choice considering my objective is to learn business mngmt. My conclusion is that he could benefit from formal training and, maybe see his business grow as he had expressed. |

I am extremely interested in running my own business some day, but what made the project so special to me was the time I spent with my dad learning about the dynasty that he has created for his family. Through this exercise I have learned how hard it is to start your own successful business, but with hard work and perseverance anything can happen. My dad had an idea over 10 years ago and never thought it would turn out to such a immense success. He has stayed focused and new his objectives and has never let anything get in his way. I have learned from him that if I want something bad enough, all I have to do is just keep working hard. After interviewing him I have realized just how much hard work and dedication it takes to have a successful business with good ethics and relationships. It has also made me more determined than ever to follow my dreams and to start my own business. When I start my own boarding facility I will be able to go to him for help and support with my business decisions and have the confidence and know-how to be successful. I do realize that this could be a long process, but I am willing to put in the time that it takes just as my dad has done. |

This project has been very helpful to me on many different levels. It has shown me that establishing a better than good business plan is a must for any business to work. Not only to survive in a constantly growing industry is hard in the times were in now where society is very fast paced and innovation is a key to keeping up nowadays. The business owner explained some keys points that I wasn’t aware affected the small business as much as I previously anticipated. If I were to start a small business with myself being a sole proprietor, I would have to make sure that the business I start is on the cutting edge of today’s next big thing. Staying ahead of the curve so future businesses can grow from my business instead of me growing from theirs. Looking at the complications that the owner was facing and how he could’ve solved a few of the problems that occurred, I would have in this situation probably tried to have this business as a corporation. Where now not all the responsibilities could fall not just on myself, but us as a company and we can find better solutions to be a more effective and efficient company. The stability that an individual can gain for not having to carry the entire work load I can see as a huge beneficial factor of the longevity of the company. As a future entrepreneur myself, having ideas from other entrepreneurs or business partners is absolutely the route that I would love to have as a part of my business venture. But overall being better prepared for the business I am looking to explore is probably the number one thing that have gained from the interview, that and never let a good idea get away from you to soon, or else someone else will take advantage of it. |

This project was very interesting to me. I see the person that I interviewed 3 or 4 times a week and I never knew a lot of the stuff that I learned. It was interesting to hear about his hours. I never knew that he worked for so long. It takes dedication to run a business. You have to put your whole heart into it or it wont last. If you arent constantly making your business more improved, you will be beaten by someone better. An interesting thing that I learned from my interviewee is that he doesent charge any more money for overtime. That is a great way to make a customer happy. Sometimes its just the little things that make a customer happy, and they could recommend you so you get another job. You dont realize how much goes into a business until you sit down and talk to someone that owns one for a long amount of time. You have to be extremely prepared to go into business. If your business doesent make money, then how do you support a family? I learned that there is a lot to think about before starting a business. I knew that there was a lot to think about, but not as much as there needs to be. This project made me more aware of what it takes to run a business |

I think of the mot important things about this project was to have the change to interview the owner of the store that I work for. One important that I observe in this interview was that I understood what are most important challenges that he is facing right now toward his business. It seems that he is constantly having communication with the managers about the performance of the store and what they need to do to improve sales and achieve customer’s satisfaction. This interview was also important to know how the store started performing almost nine years ago and to understand what are the major goals for the future. One thing he advised me is that if I am planning to open a discount retailer or what we typically we known as 99 cents stores is could be to risky because he thinks that many products will be overpriced over time and this might lose customers interest in buying in this type of stores. He advised me in consider other type of business. It was meaningful because I work for him I understood what he expecting from the people that work with him and for the business in the future. He said that he has not been performing good, in the last two years but he is considering in adapt more branded products in the store to have more sales and include another small store inside the business that will have another types of products such as electronics. |

This project was very meaningful to me especially because I have aspirations to own my own business. It helped me get an insight on what it takes to make a successful business. This interview reiterated to me how vital customer opinion is and the outstanding customer service it takes . It also showed me the importance of marketing. Additionally, I realized that school is never over for me. To be successful we have to keep up with society and continue to learn and grow in the business path we decide to take. The important details I never knew about were revealed to me when I interviewed my entrepreneur. This semester I’ve learned that there are many sources of business information, but actually hearing it be used in a real business was surprising to me. I got some great advice on financing options, especially with the tough economy were facing. In addition to all the positives of running a business he was honest and open about the challenges I can face and what I need to do to prepare for them. The man I interviewed is very intelligent and opinionated, so to ask him questions and listen to him speak on what he feels are significant for a successful business gave me a great understanding. This project gave me a better comprehension of what it takes to own a small business and now I feel a little more prepared. |

The most meaningful thing I learned about this project is that you should always do your research. As in check the location to make sure there is high traffic of customers and the customers would like your products or services. You should also do your research on the building you are purchasing or renting. If the previous owners or renters had a similar business to yours and they survived three months maybe that location isn’t for you. You should check to see if people around you have similar products and services to see how their business is doing. If you don’t do your research on the different aspects your business can fail before it even gets started. Research could make or break your business. Another meaning lesson that this project thaught me is that you cannot get too comfortable with your regular customers or situation. When it comes to your business if you sell your products to one targeted group you could end up losing profit. In he beginning you will make a lot of money but once the customers have your products, sales will start to go down. As a business owner you need to constantly try to attract new customers to keep your business thriving. You can do this in many different ways. Advertising can help your business survive or put it in a hole. This is the reason you should always use creative ways to advertise. Doing this project taught me that to open a business is not as easy as just having an idea. You have to get and be prepared for the road ahead of you. |
