Perhaps the most meaningful thing to me about this project was the comment that the business owner I interviewed said about in order to start a succesful business you need a good Personality Strong Motivational Pull willingness to work hard and a stay focused mind. This meant the most to me because they are all characteristics that I already have and provides me with the hope that my businesses will someday work out as long as I stay true to my intentions |

The most meaningful part of this project was getting to know what my mentor does, and how they view the business world. My mentor dose so much for their business, she is able to figure out what new products she needs for the shop, and how to supply it to the customers at a reasonable price. She views the world of business in a way where the customer is always right, but yet she has to let the customer know that sometimes what they think is going to work in their car is not going to sound the way they think it will. Along with that it was being able to know what it takes to run a successful business just like the one my mentor has. They are a successful business that has a strong reputation, it made a lot of sense when they said that just because you do a good job on what you do, if you don’t have a good customer service then your reputation is down the drain and no one will want to do business with you. |

I think the most meaningful thing I got from this project is that I got to sit with the person who inspired me to start my own business in the first place. I learned a great deal from her. She started out as a paralegal assistant and found a new need that was not met in the community. It was scary for her to start her own business. She took out a loan on her home and worked from there. She showed me that with great will and determination the dreams of owning a small business can be possible. She had to learn on the go little by little every day, but that did not stop her. I am motivated even more so now than I was before this project began. She opened her business with two small children and a husband and still was able to accomplish her goal. I gained valuable information on how to stay excited about my own goals. I also learned how to get started contacting vendors. Being able to gain insight to the business I hope to go into, was invaluable. I was also invited to come back or call her if I wanted to ask any more questions. I think that was the most important lesson. This experience made me more confident in myself and now I feel that I will be able to contact other small business owners for their valuable insights. |

For this project, I thought that getting information straight from the owner of a business is amazing. Being able to get advice and information directly from someone who has experience with what they are doing helps you to gain an understanding of what goes on “behind the scenes” of a business. Hearing the information that we are learning in class directly from a person helps to bring everything together and solidifies the facts that we have covered in class. There are so many things that need to be kept in mind when starting up your own business that it does seem like you need to build up your skills from as soon as you can. While there are a lot of technical things in being an entrepreneur, there are social components that exist too that you must be able to take care of while doing your best to have your business running smoothly. It also caught my eye that while a lot of people use technology now, having a small business like this one is pretty amazing because it has been running over the years without any sort of aid from technology. While the owner of the business is my father, there were so many more things to running the store than I had originally realized. I thought that it was really interesting to actually hear about his input on the questions we were supposed to use for the interview. Learning about the past of the business as well as the difficulties has opened my eyes to how hard he works in order to help and support our family. I think that having a family full of entrepreneurs acts as a great form of encouragement to me on deciding on whether I would want to open my own business in the future because I am literally surrounded by those who have been successful in their business ventures. I will take the information that I have learned from this to heart when deciding what to do with my future and know that I have many people that I can look up to when I am in need of any sort of information. |

The most meaningful thing to me about this project was seeing my uncle in a different light. I would consider him my mentor because he has done and continues to do what I could only hope to do one day. That is opening up my own business. During the time spent conducting the interview at his business, he showed me the inner workings of his business. I learned how all the software and hardware components come together to create a truly magnificent product. The program he designed intrigued me and gave me a sense of inspiration to start up a business myself. I can only hope one day I will have the knowledge it takes to run a business. Knowing that he assembles his product, the 'Second Opinion Standard' that is used by medical professionals all over the Unites States is incredible to me. All the people he has helped with his product and the testimonials he has received from doctors, who use his products, show me the true benefits of operating a business. He explained to me the gratification he feels and the satisfaction of knowing he is helping doctors save lives. Although he made sure I am fully aware of the difficulties in starting and running his business, he opened my eyes to the possibilities. It meant a lot to me knowing I have someone close to me who I can turn to for help who has actually been there, and done it. After I concluded the interview process and this project, I’m still happy to say that being a business owner is an endeavor I plan to partake one day. |

The most aspiring part about this project is the fact that one can take a passion that one enjoys and develop it into a business. Yet, business knowledge is a large necessity with becoming successful. One must obtain the skills with being able to network to encourage others to support one’s passion. One must have the business knowledge to stay in compliance with the regulations of keeping the business. The knowledge to market one’s business regardless of the obstacles that are present. In addition, the knowledge to find the sources that can provide up-to-date knowledge with the latest news pertaining to the business. This nonprofit business assists youth by providing them an opportunity to enhance their athletic ability while encouraging them to become student-athletes. Assisting youth through the use of sports can also assist with deterring children from negative activity by allowing them an outlet through sports and something positive to be proud. Sports provides teamwork and an endurance to work hard. It creates self-esteem as well as a better body image. The main focus is to encourage the children to seek wisdom by continuing their education through higher learning. This business is about the children and the future of not only their lives, but our communities. |

This project really opened my eyes to how much work and effort goes into starting a business. It's alot of work but if planned out right, it can be very successful. It's important to know what field business you want to go into and have a plan before you start anything else. Without a business plan, you won't get very far. If you want to start your own business, you need to have the drive and motivation to keep it going strong. After interviewing the owner, i was very interested in possibly starting a business of my own. However i would not go into apparel/retail. I would like to open up my own bakery. The interview was very informative and helpful to me and my understanding of starting a business. It made me realize that anyone can start a business, but they need to have the drive and motivation to keep it running smoothly. |

The most meaningful part of this project was that I got to see the excitement in my grandma's eyes when she tells me about her store. I always went there as a kid, so being able to understand what she was talking about with certain parts of the operation. She had showed me that preparation is key to success and you must cover every point of every topic. The reason is because everything in managing a small business is connected so if you want to succeed then you must research. The retailing business seemed to be very easy to start but very hard to maintain. This is because you have to deal with people stealing and merchandise going bad or getting soiled. This made it clear to me that I won’t be getting into the retail industry because of the threats it holds. If I were to create a business it would be a service industry rather than anything else. This project was very meaningful to me because I got to see the behind the scenes of an actual retail business. The thing I’m going to remember most from this project is that you must have confidence in what you’re doing, no matter the state you are in. When a family member can help another member by giving them inside information it is very useful and meaningful. Small businesses are the crucial part of the economy because they make up most of the business sector. This makes me proud to say that my grandma was a success in an area that many people fail. |

I'm glad i got to see the inner workings of a small business. It showed me all the things you need to know to keep a business in shape. The fact that a business can fall apart at the blink of an eye is shocking, so to keep a business running its always best to have a healthy amount of money. You need to be very sure that your employees know everything there is to know so you work as a team for the better of your business. Starting up a business is really risky because you have to keep working at it non stop. It's like being a mother, you have to nurture your business as if it were a child so it can grow strong. It's always good to know people. As in other entrepreneurs so you can help each other. Anything you start off on in a business you have to have a good education. Going to school or even just taking some classes to learn your business can help benefit your business in a big way. You must always know what you are selling and going into. If I were to start a new business I feel like I'd have more knowledge as to how to keep it strong. I got to see the flaws of a business, and I feel that I would have a strong start for a business. My interviewee said, "The hardest part about starting a business is all the messy work in the beginning." If I could get past all the hard things, I would be able to keep my business blooming and expanding. |

The most meaningful thing I found about this this project is that having a business is hard to do because you never know what your going to run into. You can make a business but if the business has no success then you will not get much profit of that business. Many business offer good services and quality items but sometime they do not sell well and the business has to go into bankruptcy. Providing your clients with grate service is also a big thing to have in your business. If you build a good relationship with your clients and providers your will have a grate result in the future. Keeping your mind positive and enjoying your work is also a big thing in your business if you like what you do its like if you did not work at all. |
