Interviewing a small business owner really opened my eyes to the great benefits of owning your own business. The most meaningful aspect of this project was how more than just business one has to really focus on the end result. Because as the entrepreneur I interviewed stated there is many setbacks in a business but as long as you have a reason why that is bigger than any challenge, you are going to be successful. The tips I learned do not only apply to the real estate business, they apply to many if not all businesses and or careers. Because in any business you want to start you have to not only just have a game plan but you have to be passionate enough to follow through with it. I also find very meaningful that how important it is to be self motivated. Because there is going to be many challenges you face in starting your business. And many times it is going to be easier to quit, but as long as you're self motivated and you know exactly what you want to accomplish then you are going to succeed. Also what was very meaningful is that you do not have to know all the ins and outs of a business, because it is through trial and error that you are going to acquire some skills. Also that all most of you're time in business is selling, your position does not matter you have to constantly be selling your product, idea, and or excuses but theirs a sale in every part of your business. I also learned that benefits of owning a business versus being self employed. When you own a business you own a system where you have people working for you and the owner makes money on other peoples efforts, which I thought was great. And lastly what I learned from the interview was that you can make money or you can make excuses but you can't make both. |

Throughout my interview with Brenda I learned that I have a long way to go if i ever want to have a small successful business. I must stay in school and never stop studying. Even when I have reached my goal and finally have made a business of my own, I must still continue to study. I must also have a back up goal for if what ever reason I do not succeed to my goal, I can have something else to fall back on. Always help out people for in the future someone might help you out when you need them. Never give up and keep fighting until you have conquered and won your prize. I also got to learn what it takes to reach your goal and how to get there. I must also respect my clients but also keep an eye on them. Count your money because to have a business, money is what you need the most. Adapt to the future technology so that you can have more customers. Finally, to have fun while working. Don't pout and be strict at all times. Have fun and be professional at the same time. |

In doing my interview I learned how hard the automotive service is. The competition is huge and that business plans are a neccessary. Automotive service is alot of hard work and needs a lot of patience. Competition is every where. Many streets are just filled with service store after service store. Business plans were something that many do not want to do but in the end is a must to have. Business Plans were the most interesting to me. The business plan has so much information to it and how things will be used. It is a total referance to what I want and plan to do. The wording is very formal and very interesting. The business plan of course does help in planning what to do when you are able to obtain the money from the bank or my investors. In asking the 8 questions I found it interesting how much and how hard it is for a business owner to pick just 3 different thing for any one question. |

Doing this project meant to me a great deal for two main reasons. I learned that it is going to be some challenges for me as well in starting my own catering businesses, I believe if I truly want to succeed that I should to show it. For example I should really look into volunteer to help with a catering company. Even more I could work for a catering company. Working for a catering company can give me a good idea of what to expect one I have established my own business. Another very important thing I learned is that catering requires a wide variety of skills as well as excellent cooking. It also involves everything from organization and logistics to finance and customer service. I will have to focus and dedicate my time to succeed in all these areas. |

Project interviewing entrepreneur is so meaningfull to me. A good source of assistant on social entrepreneurship. The owner share story how they star up and what is their passion and creativity had been leading him to the business. Started up with good moral social purpose is helping people, innovate society's needs, problems and oppurtunities. For making people happy, knowing what we love is the strong motivation to help the owner to working hard in order to build up business, survive and achieve the choosen business. Second point is get new customer and keep the customer loyalty. They bring us business, they are our kings. If we do not have customer, we can not stay there. We have to think about how to get customer come back with us. We have to work with professional behavior: take care of what customer needs, understandable customer, treat them with honesty, fun to work with them when they have many question come up and then they refuse to buy or return the products, apprecitate them any time to see them there. Third, it is a helpfull oppurtunities of centered theory from the class and create powerfull confidence to me to ask many questions that related to entrepreneur's technique, experience, education history, current or future situation, how to make manage plan, organize the team work. Leading me to understand how important when we hire and creatate the relationship between management team and owner; management and employee; potential customers and employees; products and customers; products and supplier. Fourth meaning, this interviewings helps me to see through the important key are customers- marketing- price- location. These emplement are connected together pushing up the business quickly grow and stay like a kite flying on the blue sky with helpfull wind. Fifth, for experience business owner show us about the financial, business plan and their goal. I learn that the entrepreneur can get help from government method is the financial loan for business. Since we make clear that follow the rules, paying tax and doing the right thing for payrolls will bring the entrepreneur long run stay in the good chace develope business stronger and stronger. It is like connect the dots, so I just concentrate on how to bring the positive business plan. Then, getting well education on the class and confidence open the business of my own. There another helpfull information are the internet source, magazines that related to different type of business. There are a lot of benefit that pay me off from taking one or three trips to see the owner: information and experience about management with partner and energetic team work, product and service, price, promotion and location. On another hand, I learn that how the entrepreneur always full of energy in front of his team, customers. I still need to learn how the entrepreneur handle the situation that deal with product like: quality, price , supplier location and method to make transaction. After the interviewing, I think that when making the decision is so important. For example, we choose the good quality and reasonable price from our suppliers is also important for us to calculate the product and price. Accounting is important job that owner have to consider and deal with suppliers. I think this would be divide customers into two kinds in order to build up the helpfull price that bases on customer's needs. The affordable price for medium income customers and high quality with high technology equipment, product with top standard for the fashion lovers and younger people, businessmen or businesswomen customers. This meaningfull project helps me to pull out business picture into word. Suprisingly, I found myself of discovering how much I like this course because it creates confidence for me to becoming an entrepreneur. Would it be great of being ready to have fun becomming an fuzzy buzzy entrepreneur in the future? My answer is "yes". |

Well, the person I interview by phone is my dad, so I can't agree more about that don't easily trusting on people thing. I remember that's when the time I was still in high school, that cousin just messed our factory in China and took our money for the factory than total disappear. Both of my parents don't come home most of the time because of the company and the financial crisis our cousin made, and later on they sent my brother to America and I also came there for college. I think that doing big business is like having war, lots of unexpected situations and you never know who will stab you on your back. So having the person that you can trust and the distinguish of people is really important. I also think that bargaining skills is important. If a company can't not include the whole selling system, whcih means from produce to retail to customers. It will automatically need wholesalers for you to sale a huge amouts of products to them, and the bargaining skills is the key for you to get huge profit, or else you may get only a little profit, even losing money. It may be hard to find the balance for both you and your wholesalers will accept. |

The most meaningful thing about this project is that I was able to follow and understand (name removed) responses. The lectures in class paralleled (name removed) focus on what one should know when starting a business. The importance of continually being innovated in order to stand out and keep pace with growing competitors. Also being conscious of what customers are looking for in a product. I definitely learned that it takes much more knowledge than just an idea of wanting to start a business. There are many steps and areas involved such as researching the product, capturing the attention of interested clients, and meeting the demand in order to achieve a successful start but more than that it is the tireless dedicating and work that goes into pursuing a thriving business. I received positive feedback from (name removed). After he agreed to participate in being interviewed for the project I E-mailed him the questions so that he had time to think about his responses. He said that they were definitely great questions and it provoked a lot memories from the past. He has learned so much through his experience through trial and error over the years that it has made him that more passionate about his business. In light of the economic down-turn he has seen his business grow stronger and he credits that to consistently running the business lean. |

I felt like I really connected with the entrepreneur I got to interviewed. He was really down to earth when talking to me, he doesn’t just give good advice but he can be a great mentor. I like the fact that he didn’t go into the business looking for a money profit. But, for the simple fact he found a product that he connected with and enjoyed working on. Being able to sit down with someone kind of close to my age doing what I would like to be doing was great because where able to relate to a lot of what we see out in the media and networking world. This project really helped me see the bigger picture when starting a business. Starting up a small business doesn’t take much financially. The real work comes in dedication you put in to your business. That’s why when starting up a small business do something that you enjoy doing. It’s better to do something you will enjoy working on than to do something someone else wants you to do. Some of the best advice I can take from my interviewee this when he told me to establish good relationships with everyone. Everyone can be a potential customer in the future so it’s good to keep a solid relationship where you can get some feedback and maybe that could useful in the future. |

well, learning what it take to star a business. making sure we know the principal of what making a business is all about . to financing it were making sure what loans to get approve of to in the business it's self. When it comes to innovation, I believe that the right behaviors lead to the most valuable outcomes. Let's identify those behaviors and develop methods of evaluation that encourage them rather than spending too much of our energy on creating measures and reports that only the experts can understand. |

This project overall opened my eyes to what it really is to go into business for yourself. It is definitely not an easy task to go into business for yourself you must remain focused and be passionate about what it is you are going to do. I definitely feel it is not impossible for me to be an entrepreneur, but I do have a lot more learning to do. Up until this point I had felt it would be fairly easy starting my own business I was blind to the fact that I really don’t have a real business plan or market strategy yet. This project helped me realize that and inspired to me to go back to the drawing board and work a lot more on my ideas and see if my previous goals are something I truly would like to do. This isn’t something that will happen overnight and I think that was what I was kind of expecting to learn. There is a lot of responsibility held on the business owner and not only that but you have to really learn to invest your money well otherwise you could bankrupt your business. The advice I got from this interview is to definitely do my research before anything else and trust that I am good at what it is I will be doing. Not to be afraid of change or panic when things might not be working as expected because a simply change or adjustment can be the difference. Patience is probably the biggest key and confidence that the knowledge you have gathered and are outing into action will work for you in the long run. This project shed a lot of light on the fact that even though you might be in business for over fifteen years there are still things you can be doing better and the competition never ends and you must keep up with the times or get lost in the wind. |
