This project overall was very meaningful to me. I was able to find out how an entrepreneur thinks. What is needed to start a business. The advice he gave will greatly help me in the future when starting a business. For example I know that I need to identify and work on my weaknesses. This will prevent me from having trouble in the future.

It was also meaningful to be able to get to know the entrepreneur I interviewed. He was very open minded and gave me some great tips to start my future business. He told me to make sure I know my industry very well. He also recommended me to get very educated in every aspect from self improvement to public speaking skills. It was a great experience and I know that this will benefit my future.

I thought that learning from an entrepreneur that has already experienced the ups and down of business was very beneficial and eye-opening. I learned many things from this project, one of which is that you must have a positive aspect in running your business. You must keep yourself motivated even when you feel discouraged when you face difficulties such as taxes and fees. Surrounding yourself with the right circle of people will help motivate and inspire you to grow your business. You also need to have passion for what you do so that your product of service is significant to you and your consumers; if are not proud of what you produce then your customers won’t be proud of what they purchase. Secondly, I learned that people are starting to lean towards organic/eco-friendly products. I first noticed this when Sun Chips converted to a compostable bag instead of a non-recyclable bag. When I go into business I will consider eco-friendly and organic materials for my product or service.
Another thing I realized was that you must have some knowledge in accounting to be financially organized so that taxes and fees won’t come as a surprise. Also marketing your product might be difficult because of the competition the other businesses create, so obtaining an education in those categories is very important. Lastly, I learned that in order to be prosperous in business you must do what you love. It will keep you devoted in selling and marketing your product or service. You can’t enjoy and thrive in a business if you don’t even appreciate what you’re doing.

The advice and knowledge I gained from talking to the entrepreneur I interviewed has made me realize that not everyone knows what they’re doing, but it is important you never give up. Many times when faced with difficulties and struggles, a lot of us succumb to the pressure and give in. I learned that success isn’t guaranteed and it doesn’t happen overnight. You have to know what business it is you want to do and even then make sure you are good at it. Having connections with people in your industry will get you places. The person I interviewed completely switched trades and faced the difficulties of not knowing what he was doing.

I was told I should be smart with my money and analyze decisions through all viewpoints. Building my credit would help me do a lot of things because it builds my relationship with banks. My customers are the ones who make me money so I have to please them by finding them the product or service they need. Doing market research and interacting with others will help me because I stay informed and I don’t fall behind on what’s new. Running a business isn’t easy and it takes a lot of time and work but if you are smart with your money and decisions you will find success.

This project was extremely meaningful to me because I was able to get a better insight on a business I grew up with. Being able to interview my Grandma about her business was very insightful. As someone who has seen the success and failures of this business from afar, it became easier to understand why by getting the chance to focus on my grandma for this project. There are two lessons in particular that stick out in my mind after doing this interview. The first one is being prepared. What was absent from the from the questions was the fact that very recently, my grandma has run into two serious problems with her business not addressed earlier. First was the fact that her restaurant just burned down 1 month ago. Worse still was the fact that since she didn’t really trust banks, she had a lot of her money at the restaurant at the time of the fire. The second is the fact that she is being taken to court by the state for not offering workers compensation to her employes. Now if she had only been prepared ahead of time by simply putting you money in the bank and researching what is required to open a restaurant in the US, she could have avoided these major pitfalls.

The second thing I learned is that you have to be adaptive and resilient to not only survive, but to succeed in business. My grandma is slow to keep up with the changes in the restaurant industry, and her business has suffered because of it. When someone with expertise has come along and offered advice or help, she refuses it and sticks to her old way of doing things. I understand that those methods have brought her success in the past, but times change and your business needs to change with it in order to continue to thrive. When I open my own business, I’m going to make sure I learn from the mistakes my grandma has made, as well as learn from the good things she has done like trying to please her customers and offer something that is truly authentic that I will enjoy to provide for the consumer.

This project has taught me a lot and has given me a glimpse into the mind of an experienced entrepreneur. The most meaningful part of this project was getting an understanding on how this small business works and hearing the good and bad from the entrepreneur himself. It really made me understand the importance and value of one customer. I realized that one big reason the business exists and is still thriving is because of its loyal customers who have refereed people throughout the years. Before conducting this business project I knew good customer service was important. After finishing I realized that it’s extremely important and that it can make a big difference in the business. I have also learned that your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning.

This project has made me realize that realizing your dream of establishing a business is not as hard as many people make it out to be. It has made me see that it’s about putting in effort and being a difference maker. It’s about stepping up to the plate and taking an idea and making it happen. This project has really encouraged and motived me to strive to have a business of my own. It has shown me a lot of personal experiences and insight that many books would not be able to offer. Overall, this project taught me a lot of valuable information.

This interview was very beneficial and eye-opening experience I gained a lot of advice and knowledge. I got the opportunity to sit down personally with the owner of the company such a very nice humble man. I would have to say that was the most meaningful part of the project. He gave me a lot of insight on the company, more than requested. Made me realized that there’s a lot of struggles you’ll face but it’s very important to keep substantial. Having connections with people in your industry will be very helpful. Also, keep those costumers satisfied. Stay informed and don’t fall behind on what’s new stay on track. I’m very inspired to one day create my own business and make it thrive. With hard work put in and dedication as well I know I can create a strong business of my own. Overall, this project has shown me a lot of insights of personal experiences and taught me valuable information from an entrepreneur himself.

While doing this assignment I learned many new aspects of business that I was not aware of before. I did grow up in restaurant business watching my dad run and stress over the place. However, I did not know all about my dad’s background and his reasoning for doing things the way he does in the restaurant. My dad is a very stubborn person and getting him to change is difficult. After doing this project however I do believe that he has become enlightened and opened his mind to other options that might bring in revenue. I learned about the old ways that my dad used to run the restaurant and how over time, (although I haven’t noticed) he has changed to adjust to current norms in society. I actually got to see and compare the difference between the ways my dad used to handle things generations before technology soared in society.
When it comes to the family restaurant, I am very passionate and understanding to the ways that my dad likes to run the place. However, at times I become frustrated because it is hard to get him out of old habits. Our guests and consumers are what shape and improve us as a company. From this project, I learned the customer is our main focus and their desires need to be met in order for the business to succeed. I know this is an obvious statement but sometimes it is easy to drift off in the path of finding ways to make money and profit that we lose focus on the real reason we are actually in business; the customers. It is important to always be prepared for the future because some days are busier, slower or more problems filled than others. However, it is a long road to success, so do not give up even when times become difficult!

9. The technology plays a big role in business, which is amazing because due to this sometimes, it reduces the labor of your employees, but it gives you more chances to be competitive among others companies. Always know how to use the right technology for you and your company. Also, finding the right sources of information that are available out there. Therefore, asking questions to the experts will be the best for you and your company because they could help to guide you or even they help you to succeed in your business. The most important thing that I found interesting was the credit and the importance how to use that money in your business and make profit out of it. But at the same time paying your vendors or suppliers on time it will help to develop thrust with them, and always make good relationship with them as well.

I have actually known the owner os this small motorcycle shop for close to three years now.Three years ago, his business honestly wasn't much of a business at all.He was simply known as someone who enjoyed tinkering on his motorcycle and his friends inside his own garage. The tool selection was vast even then, but limited in that he could only do more basic repairs: tune ups involving oil changes, spark plugs, air filters or brake jobs. Now, with more tools and machinery, such as a recently purchased motorcycle lift and a larger assortment of tools, he can do more serious work that involves digging deeper into motorcycles, such as checking the valves, removing the top half of the engine, or even rebuilding the front end of bikes, which involves electrical work too.To keep his business prosperous, and because he enjoys helping others, he charges nearly half of what most other shops would. He really has a passion for what he does, as well as enjoying helping other sport bike riders in the motorcycle community and he really knows what he's doing. The owner has made flyers, online ads and even has a yelp page to help advertise and get his shops name out there.I've been watching his business as he started building it from the ground up and am amazed at how far he's come.
This project was very insightful and gave me a sneak peek in the small business world that even I never really knew about. From an outsiders perspective, it would almost look easy to run a business, especially if you are the owner of said business.I learned that its not as easy as it looks though. It can be stressful and you need to invest quite a bit into your business before anything else. Then there's the issue of trying to build up your business, make a name for yourself and gain a positive reputation. What I learned from this business owner is that word of mouth and good references who had positive experiences is a great way to spread your business's name and gain more business.Since I was able to watch his business slowly expand and gain more frequent customers, as well s even gain hands on experience myself, I realized how much work goes into a business.Especially when you're the sole proprietor.I also learned, that in the mechanic business, when business expands, more tools and machinery become necessary; with better machinery comes more business. Its a cycle that feeds itself to help the business. It was very inspiring to see this small motorcycle shop blossom. It was quite interesting to watch this and see for myself what it really takes to start and keep a business going.
