My goal in life is to own a business of my own some day and I will be an entrepreneur eventually. I am very inspired and happy that I was able to have the opportunity to discuss and get inside the mind of an entrepreneur. This project has taught me that it is possible for my goals to be achieved in my life time. I got to put in the time and work of dedication that is offered for me to become a survival. Being able to have ideas thrown at me and the recourses that there is being offered for my future business is great. I never knew how much work it takes to get to where you need to be as for running your own business. Just knowing all that hard work and patience it can take you will be relieve when your there. Yes I will continue interviewing more owners so I can stay on track and on top of my game. This has taught me to stay discipline and have an open minded mentality to strive and thrive myself. Now I have a better understanding on how a small business runs and what it takes for a business to run properly. Yes I will establish my credit and work with banks. Yes I will interview my employees and get to know them. Making sure they have also put in the time and dedication that I have so I don’t have any doubts and down falls. I have put in time and effort into this project and very thankful for this opportunity I got to experience with this business project. |

It was hard for me to decide who I wanted to interview for this project. As I was looking through pictures one day It dawned on me that I wanted to interview a photographer. It’s not a big business or anything major but it’s something that I am interested in. I asked my boyfriend if he knew anyone and he told me that his sister-in-law was a photographer. I texted her the next day to ask her if it would be okay to interview her. She gladly agreed to it and we met up on the weekend. We sat down at lunch and had a long and interesting conversation. I’ve known her for three years now and I got to see how much she loves her job. I looked through all of the beautiful pictures she has taken, and I fell in love. The most meaning thing to me was how you can learn so much about someone through their work. I enjoyed the talk that I had. If I had to do this again I would. Learning about photography makes me want to go out and buy a camera just to mess around. I love how a picture can have so much meaning. This project gave me a lot of insight to what it is out there in the real world. I learned that you have to have patients and to chase your goals o matter how long it takes. This project was meaningful to me in many ways. I know what there is to look forward to if I wanted to start my own business. |

One thing that I found to be meaningful from this project is that I got a lot of great advice from a businessman that I really respect. [Subject] is one of the most successful businessmen that I know. It was interesting hearing his perspective on his pub from a business point of view. He has owned many businesses in the past and even now in the present. I have been in the restaurant industry for about seven years now and [business] is by far my most favorite place that I have worked at. He really means what he says when he says that he treats his employees/co-workers like family. I always look forward to going to work every day. Another thing that I found to be meaningful was listening to [subject’s] stories on how he got to where he is at today. He started working at age 15 at McDonald’s and was promoted to a manager position by the age of 16. He told me stories about how he was the youngest person at the manager parties and met famous people in Palm Springs. He told me various stories about his nightclubs and how they came about. I got to learn a lot about the company that I am currently working for. He is a very open and warm person to talk to. He understands that everybody starts from somewhere, and he has the best wishes for all of his employees when they decide to move forward in their paths. I enjoyed doing this interview and it has opened my eyes to my business ventures in the future. |

To me the most meaningful part of this project was being able to interview someone who is currently working in a business that I would love to be a part of someday. This is a business that I would love to be connected with and what I want to do with my life as I grow older. So I made the decision to interview [name removed] because I love horses and helping children and adults with disability. I love seeing them happy with a smile on their face having a good time riding the horses. It also helps the students to work their muscles while working with horses, while helping their body use the muscles and ligaments to get the exercise they need to strengthen their body. It is my belief that owning and running a therapeutic riding program can be both a wonderful experience to have because of all the memory’s that I can make with my students, children, adults and their families or guardians that they have. It also makes it a lot more enjoyable to have the play days for the kids so that they can learn new things and have pleasure in the process. Following is a quote that I took directly off [their] website: “I think your program is wonderful, because horses don’t care what people look like, or what kind of disabilities they have, all that matters to horses is that they are treated well and in return they will love their rider as if they were part of the herd!” Shannon Campbell |

The most meaningful part of this project was being about to see how owning your own business is better then i thought. Being in a Construction business has alot more advantages then i thought. When your able to build your own house from the ground up is pretty awesome to do. I would love to be able to build and design my house from the ground up. Something that stands out to me was that his wife helped him all with his business. So anyone can do any type of business girl or boy it doesn't matter. Just seeing there house makes me want to start a business for sure. But being able to build your own house like that. You do need a business that succeeds. it was great to talk to someone and describe there owe experience. Starting a business seems a little tough to start but if you have your mind set you will succeed. |

The most meaningful part on this project was learning many things about business and how it works. Also, asking my dad these questions makes it better for me because I felt more relaxed and comfortable with what I have to ask. I appreciate him taking the time out of his day to let me interview him. I work with my dad at times and I know how hard it is to work in the beaming sun all day long. This was an eye opener for me. I feel that learning about this business is making me want to pursue my goals even more. The struggles that my dad had to overcome make me realize that I have to make a living that I’m going to love. I honestly don’t like going to work because I feel its way to hard for me. I’ve been working with him since I was ten years old so that make it the more meaningful. I personally would want to work indoors so it’s the complete opposite of what my dad loves. The business that I want to get into is investment. I hope that with the insight of my dad’s wise words I will be successful in my business. I know that I have to grow a relationship with all of my future clients. This project truly had an impact on me. |

After this interview I found out that there are many factors that I need to think about before setting up a business. One of these factors to knowing the industry that I want to dip my foot in. I have to learn before I go into it and keep adapting with the market while operating the business. In any industry I should not stay stagnant and always keep improving. He also mentioned that I have to be “smart with my money”. He insisted that before going into any business know what I am going to do with it. He said save up for a rainy day, be frugal yet reasonable and make sure you keep track of everything I do like sales, expenses and etc. Finally, what my interviewee had struck me was when he said keep good relationships with people who you do business with whether they are your suppliers, customers, or even just friends who does business in other industries. Like what he said you’ll never know when they can help you out. Networking is really something I can benefit from in the long run. |

This project taught me a lot. It showed me that you don't have to be a genius or 4.0 student to be a successful business owner. It showed me how someone who was in my shoes not too long ago, did what it took to achieve their dream and bring it to life. This project showed me that it's not always going to be easy and it might not start off how you want it to but you have to do whatever it takes to get through it. It helped show me that if you have enough interest and passion for what you're doing, then there isn't any obstacle that you should let stop you. What was most meaningful to me what the fact that if you decide to start a business that you have a great amount of interest for, you don't look at it so much as a "job." I also took away from the project that no matter what is you want to do in the business field, you must always have a Business plan. Without one your setting yourself up for failure. This project was a great learning experience and I took away things that I will be using for probably the rest of my life in this business field. Thank you Professor. |

What I find meaningful to this project was probably the advice seeking from the entrepreneur. Telling me what I should to of how to start a business, how to get loans, what to do if something goes wrong. She has been running this business for ten years already, and still making high profits every year. She also said it takes a lot of hard work to start a business, that is probably the most difficult part to run a business. You also might be nerve wrecking to see if you can have success in a business. Go with your guts that you think this business will make your profits. The main idea from her was to make money, that was her biggest goal. I agree with that, but she also said if you can start a business that actually fits your interest and makes a profits by all means go right ahead. That is a double win. She also said don't start up a business coming from your interest that would most likely fail. You don't want to be wasting your time and money onto something that is going to fail. |

I have learned a substantial amount of information from conducting this interview, I was very intrigued and inspired on hearing his story of opening his business and how he runs it in such a very welcoming manner. I really like his thoughts on how word of mouth is the best advertisement around, because of the trust you put in people you know, that it’s better than any type of advertisement. Also I like how he very much understands of the economy right know and having really good prices if not the best throughout the Botanica stores in Los Angles also the most well known through his excellent work he actually even got a documentary done on his work because of how unbelievable it is. And how he thrives on his business witch is through others happiness and achievements I find very admirable. He is also very smart with money he builds relationships with his suppliers and will help them out with whatever they need in his area of abilities through his profession and they give him the best product for the lowest price I really like how he was inspired to get into the business, how he was so interested in what his grandparents have been doing. In spite of going to UCLA he still went with his passion in spiritual based occupation he said he did it to have more options because he is very into sociable studies and he either would’ve became a teacher are a councilor studying the human mind and something to fall back on that he also had a passion for are if anything went wrong with the Botanica business, that really made me think about having more options incase my dreams may not come true to fast. He is a really big success and also one of the biggest in his occupation and he did it the honest way. I feel he is a very interesting and creative entrepreneur I like how he solves all of his obstacles in a unique way. That’s why I picked him as an entrepreneur because of he is inspiring ways of business and his view on life overall. |
