The most meaningful part about this project is getting to interview and meet a sole proprietor in the body shop industry. The interview went well and had the opportunity to get information and learn on how to start your own business. He started his business because he was closely related to the business skills necessary to run his business. All of his training came from work experience and he started very young and had a passion of being an automotive paint repair specialist. He gave me really good advice if I wanted to become a business owner by planning ahead and researching a lot about the industry. He said that being a business owner can be very challenging and rewarding. Building a customer base is one important aspect in business, and technology these days really makes it easy to market your business. Also is creating and delivering a good image of the business by doing great quality work, offering great variety of services and top of the line products. He has kept his business running well because of good pricing strategies by doing services at a reasonable price than his competitors. Lastly, his last advice was to have good customer service, taking care of your customer’s needs and wants at all times. Getting the job done in time and well will bring your customer’s from coming back and have new customers with word of mouth. My career is to become a Certified Public Accountant and this project has given me great information to one day open my own business in my industry.

I really learned a lot form this interview. I understand I really need to save some money for myself, and if I can save a little bit money for I my future business, I can take a lot of pressures off me, and I can do my business better. I strongly agree with what he said it is very important to build a long term relationships with your employees and your customers. We don’t want to train the new employee all the time. I need to do a lot of researthes on my competitors before I start my business in this area. I learned that I need to know the local culture and what people like the most in this area, and I could be more competitive.

I was shocked when I heard that he could do so many things for his restaurant on the smartphone. I realized I need to use the new technologies to help my business grow a little bit faster such as the 3D printer. I can tell it’s not really expensive to do promotions for your business in app store. I also need to train myself in the college and take the course which will help my future business a lot. I thought pressure is a good thing for the entrepreneur because pressure will force me to work hard and make my life more successful, but right now I think I should not have those pressures all the time, sometimes give myself a relaxed time could help me make the right decision for my business. I think these informations are most meaningful and helpful to me.

Although this type of business never really appealed to me (due to my impatience), I was really grateful to learn how to do well in this business, since I've seen my friend work, and respect the amount of effort she put into her plushies. I also was unaware of how essential advertising could really be, since I had only seen her sell at the cons we had gone to. I had not realized how stressful it could be to get your work recognized online. I didn't know how much she had to manage all her supplies. As far as I knew, she had always bought just enough to get by. Now, I have a better understanding of why she always seemed to buy so much, even though her plushies didn't seem to need to need that much.

Talking to her, I also learned the importance of patience. It was very easy to tell that there were multiple times during one of her projects that she was close to giving up. I greatly admire her perseverance, since I know I personally could not do it myself. The amount of care she has for everything she sews together is great too, since I know while many of people would just sew to make some extra money, she sewed also because she wanted the other person receiving the plush to be as happy with it as she is. As one of her customers myself, I know personally that she works her hardest on everything she does.

Overall, this project made me realize that I’m definitely working toward the right path. One day, it would be a dream to be able to have a non-profit where I could give back to the community that I grew up in. It was definitely very inspiring to see how much [Name Removed] works in order to continue to serve their own community. They started off with a small simple goal, motel vouchers, but grew in to such a respectful organization in our community. I could tell just by looking at their offices that their employees were not there because they earn an extravagant salary, but because they believe in the vision of the organization. They get self-gratification in providing their services to the company.

One of the most important things that I kept hearing is that like any retailer or service company, you must be open for change at all times. Being able to adapt to current market conditions is extremely important regardless if you are for or nonprofit. As a company it is very important to keep up with new trends in order to be competitive or in this case, be able to keep consistency with funds. [Name Removed] understood that when the market shifted they would have to cut corners in order to maintain their livelihood therefore seeking new methods to raise awareness for donations and volunteers. They took advantage of free marketing tools that social media provided. They searched for methods of going green in order to cut costs and also look for ways to find educational sources for their clients to learn how to utilize newer technology in order to find better jobs. Each day has new challenges but being able to adapt and react quickly will allow any company to succeed in any market.

The most meaningful piece of information I got from this project was something that I was not able to put in the project itself. It relates to information about my boss that I did not know. Many of the things we talked about we had at some point in time touched upon, but during the interview he went into detail. For example things about himself, his family, and his experiences. Of course all related to his business.
I learned that my boss began working at his fathers store at the young age of seven. That’s why by the age of fourteen he was able to run one of his father’s stores. Another thing is that with just one of his stores he makes close to 2 million a year. 47 seven eleven’s are owned by his family. That would include cousins and uncles. In respect to useful information I can use I would have to say that giving incentives and coming through with threats is a must when owning such a business.

The most meaningful to me about this project was hearing the story behind the business. I loved hearing how passionate the person got when he was talking about his current and previous restaurants. He showed me and you could hear how much he cared for his restaurant and all the people that helped him get where he was. He was very grateful for all his friends and family for helping him by giving him money to be able to start his restaurant. He was also very grateful for his current and previous employees. He could remember all his employees and told me stories about how much he had managing his old restaurants. It was nice hearing about what happens behind the scenes of a restaurant that most people don't get to see.

I also enjoyed when he took time off to ask me about what i wanted to do instead of keeping the whole interview on him. He made me feel important and it showed that he cared. It showed me that he still cared about what was going on around him when it comes to other entrepreneurs. He was able to show me how he was able to make it even through all the obstacles that he faced while he was starting his business. He gave me advice on starting my own business and I really enjoyed that part. He had a lot of experience that he was able to tell me what I needed to do in order to be successful.

the most meaningful thing about this project would be the ins and outs about a small business. There are a lot of things that you have to know about starting up your business. You having to know a lot about rules and regulation and license along with California state taxes and pay role. there are a lot of small different things that go into small businesses its not as easy as people think it is. you have to go through the state and make sure what you want to do is allowed in the plaza of building you want to do it in. There is also a lot to do when trying to hire employees. you have to really go into detail during an interview to try to figure out what type of person they are. learning all of these small in and outs of business was really meaning fun along with sitting down and talking to a person who has made it in the small business world. and being able to work for yourself while feeding your family is something that I really look up to and hope to be one day in my life.

The most meaningful aspect of this project was the fact that I could hear the passion people have for their business. It is literally a child of theirs that they nurture and raise. They want the absolute best for their business and they sacrifice a lot of time to maintain it successful. As a business person, your job is never over. There is always going to be new technologies you have to either incorporate in your business. You have to stay current if you want to be ahead of your competition. Technology is your friend. You have to be open to new ideas like social media to be able to reach out to the newer generations. There are so many ways to promote your business; you just have to take the time to do it.
You also cannot expect a business to flourish right away. There are going to be people you want to make friends with to benefit your business. Your partnerships are important because it helps your business branch out into different communities. The most resources you have, the more exposure, the more customers you produce. Networking is vital to a successful business. Once satisfied, customers become loyal especially if there are only a few businesses like yours in one city. Make it a goal to keep every customer happy, in person or online customer. As a business person, you always place yourself in your customers “shoes”. Listen to what each customer has to say and see what you can do to make each visit better than the last.

The most meaningful was the whole project together. Being able to interview an entrepreneur who has his BA and is passionate about his work has given me great insight. This project has made me realize that creating your own business from the bottom up can be difficult but yet at the same time rewarding. Business is never plateau it constantly changes and to have a strong business you have to adjust and change with it. The subject of change had came up a few times throughout the interview and I thought it was interesting. Many people cannot adapt to change and move quickly with the business they have or work in. In this case, adjustment can make or break a business.
One thing that was not mentioned in the interview was that the entrepreneur had gone through a hard time with his business in the year 2010. The reason being it was the time the recession had hit although it was hard for everyone it was truly hard for him because it was a dry period of his career point. His business was very vulnerable at the time. No body was buying houses it wasn't until two years ago when the business started to pick back it's pace. I brought this topic up because his business did not fail and has never failed in the past. Many real estate companies did not survive and had to close down. The entrepreneur that I interviewed is intelligent he had knowledge of the recession coming into play in 2010. He saved his money, had to let people go but never did the business fail. This shows he was able to react to change and adjust to the surrounding environment. To be able to over come any obstacle in business it shows strength of the entrepreneur. He is able to make vital decisions to improve his company.
In conclusion this project was very useful and has given me extreme insight of how a business generates.

This project was very personal for me because I interviewed the owner of my company. It is not often that you are able to call your boss of a multi-million company directly on his cell phone and sit down with causally for a 30 min interview. It didn’t even feel like an interview because he was so calm and casual about it. For this reason alone made it very meaningful me. He gave me great advice on not just how to start a business but also a little bit of how to keep it going. He was also very humble about his company as well, and in today’s society you do not humble from the higher ups.
This has been an excellent project for me because I also would not have known about, simply to just pick up a business magazine to gain a ton of insight on all types of business. His advice on being very prepared to get a loan or learning more about vendor financing works and to really understand everything about the finances of my business. I’m not a numbers person but this has defiantly given me a jump to learn more. All in all the project was great and very helpful, it also made me appreciate my job more.
