The most meaningful to me about this project was being able to talk with someone who knows this industry. It's nice to know that generations have passed this bakery down and that it is something that she hopes to continue. Specifically, [Name Removed] advice to have weekly meetings with her employees and just listen was powerful. It shows that you have gratitude and respect for your employees by putting aside time to hear what they have to say. It makes sense that she was saying that they are on the front line and customers will let them know what their doing right and wrong. The employees can help to relay that message to the owner and allow the owner to either continue what their doing good or change the bad. I think that a lot of times people don't listen to their employees or they think their just rambling on but if more owners listened then they may be more successful. This concept has worked for [Name Removed] and it shows since it's been around since the 80's. |

The most meaningful part of this project was the realization that I should always be a student. We could have our degrees and say we graduated from college or a university but we will always be a student of our industry. We have to always be ready to adapt the moment changes from one trend to another. While we think that a trend may last a while they do not. They change dramatically. Back in the early 2000’s a certain modification look was extremely popular because of a movie franchise. In a matter or 4 year that scene had entirely disappeared. Since 2004 the market has had about 4 major changes trends. Even as we speak there is a huge shift from hybrids to pure electric vehicles. The next thing was being able to receive such great insight from my entrepreneur. He is a man that is truly successful and to be able to speak to him on what it takes to be create a successful business is an opportunity of a lifetime. There are many different point in which i have taken from granted such as viewing one’s own banker as a great source for market information and also the uses for the new technologies in which makes a gigantic switch in the way the development is executed. |

The most meaningful to me about this project was being able to interview a personal friend. I have not known [Name Removed] for a long time but in the short time I have known him he has shown a lot of dedication and commitment in his work. I admire this about him and I am grateful to have met such a passionate and hard working person. Being his friend has not only taught me great work ethic but has opened many doors for me and has allowed me to network with people I never thought I would be able to work with. This would not be possibly without him. He motivates me to strive for my goals aspirations and reminds me that nothing can stop me unless I allow it to. This project definitely plants a seed in young aspiring entrepreneurs’ mind; at least that is how I feel. It definitely makes me excited for my journey in building a small business and expanding it in the future. It has motivated me to start off by first and foremost doing well in school so that I can use the knowledge I learn towards building my empire. This project has helped me gain valuable information that I can use in my business and even personal life. |

For this project, I interviewed an owner of a dance studio. This is really meaningful to me because I too want to open up my own dance studio in the future. She gave me an idea of what it is like to open one and how to make a dance business thrive. Before I started this interview, I did not even think about the evolution of dance and how it’s constantly changing. I learned that it’s important to keep things modern and new so that my customers won’t get bored. Also, the fact that she started with no business experience at all inspires me. It shows me that anything can be achieved in the world of business as long as you put your mind to it. When she told me her initial goal, “to create a second home for dancers” I really took that to heart. I am a math tutor right now, and I found that I really love working with children. I feel like it’s my duty to somehow make people’s day better even if it is just a simple conversation. With that in mind, I really want my dance studio to be a place where friendships are made, and where children feel safe to just forget about life’s problems, have fun, and dance. Sometimes I doubt myself about opening a dance studio, just because I feel like I will never be successful. But hearing all this information from someone who had the same dream as me is very inspiring and motivating. So the most meaningful thing to me about this project is that my interviewee was once in my place, and I got to see how hard she worked to make her dream come true. |

This project was meaningful to me because it gave me an opportunity to take a look inside a business that I am very interested in going into in the future. There are so many things that I still don’t know about the restaurant business but it was nice to be able to get this entrepreneur’s thoughts about running this business. Getting to know this entrepreneur was also very interesting because I got to learn about his background in the restaurant business and why he decided to go this route and turn out successful. The things I learned while doing this project will stay with me throughout my career because the advice he has given me is universal and will always apply to this business. Not only has this project opened my eyes to how hard it will be to own a restaurant, but also how rewarding. Listening to this entrepreneur talk about how much he loves doing his job and being his own boss inspires me to do the same. This entrepreneur knows me through a connection through my mother and now that I have done this project I know that I have gained someone whom I can go to for advice if I were to ever need to. To say that I benefitted from this project is an understatement. While, he definitely communicated to me that this business was not going to be easy and that you have to stay dedicated to it, he also said that running your own business is a way to learn about yourself and to learn about people. This project was a great way to get an inside look at the restaurant business. |

The most meaningful part of the project to me was getting to know more about my friends business. We used to work together at the pool for years. So for me to see her success in this industry is very exciting for me. I remember how she was always one of the most requested instructors. To see her forging her own way in business and hearing her talk about this with such passion and conviction, really made me realize that she is very lucky to have found her niche so early in life and that it has turned out to be very lucrative. I’m happy that it gives her the opportunity to travel so much and that her business grows every year. One of the things not mentioned in the interview was that she actually does a lot of pro bono work every summer for an underprivileged Native American group called the Shinnecock Indians. That is so amazing to me that corporate social responsibility indoctrinated into her company. The other thing I found so very interesting was how she evolved the company from just swim lessons to kayaking, paddle boarding, mommy and me, water aerobics, CPR, WSI and Lifeguard certifications to her underwater technology and so on. It is just so very impressive that she continues to stay ahead of the typical swim lessons that we think of. I really liked how she chose her staff and that they all had different attributes to bring to the company, the diversification that brings is something unheard-of in this industry and I’m positive that will keep her business thriving summer after summer. Overall this was really insightful because it allowed me to see what a person can do with a passion. She started with her own money and equipment, took a chance in another state that wasn’t familiar and she has persevered and produced a continually increasing profit summer after summer. |

The most meaningful in this project for me was finding out how the business owner started. It just blows me away how simple it was to get the ball rolling. It was not a vision nor a goal it was nothing more than just taking advantage of a new opportunity. This project gave me some insight in the business world, it has me feeling slightly less scared of the real world. Another thing I found meaningful is the importance of quality in any work regardless of who you are or what you do. Quality is important . This project also helped me realize that I am 100% sure about chasing my business degree which gives me the confidence I need to continue on with my journey. Small business management seemed more about the books but I realized it has a lot to do with phycology because you are still working with people and relationships do develop. From the individual I interviewed I learned a business is about satisfying those who your business attracts, phycology can help your business in a big part and as an entrepreneur. People skills are a must in a business that hopes to survive. |

I really enjoyed doing this project because I am lucky enough to work with [Name Removed] directly and have a different perspective of what I have learned. I have a new found respect for her and admire her hard work and dedication. In my experience, working in salons where the owner is not a hairdresser has been extremely difficult. I have often times thought I could do a much better job running some of the business without having much business experience. The [Name Removed] has been the best salon I’ve worked in by far. [Name Removed] is very personable and humble and demands a certain level of respect from each of us. She engages in conversation with each customer and develops her own relationships with them. It is clear that she is not only interested in financial gain. [Name Removed] genuinely cares about us and our customers. It is important to look up to the person that runs the business you work in. Like you, everyone has to start somewhere. I admire anyone who stays humble even after they’ve reached success. I began hairdressing my senior year of high school, I knew early on that God put me on my path for a reason. I used to get in trouble for talking too much in class. Now I can talk as much as I’d like and make money while doing so. It is a privilege to love what you do. It is then that your job isn’t a job but yet your passion and career. Having been in a total of 5 salons in my hairdressing career I was discouraged to open my own. When I came to The [Name Removed] 5 years ago that slowly began to change. I began to realize that when you are the salon owner you are able to hand pick your staff. Like [Name Removed] I plan to have an extensive interviewing process and work on a referral basis as well. Having the experience of being in different salons as well as over 10 years under my belt has helped me learn so much about this business. I have set a goal to open up my salon in 2015. Lord willing I will make that goal a reality. This project leads me to explore more things than I had thought to. It has given me a more clear perspective of what is necessary before starting. Finding the right location and building the right team play a huge role in running and maintaining a successful business. I look forward to putting what I learned into affect and making my dream a reality. |

The entrepreneur with whom I spoke emphasized the importance of networking, particularly early on in a business owner’s career. With this in mind, I feel that the new relationship I was able to develop through the process of the interview assignment was the most meaningful. This interview provided me the opportunity to speak with and ask questions to someone who is in a position in which I hope to be. This makes the advice she has to offer particularly valuable because she has already been through the trial and error process for situations in which I have no experience. The ongoing guidance and advice that she can provide could prove to be an invaluable resource for my future in business, and is the most meaningful take away I received from this interview. |

The first paragraph was the most important to me, due to the fact it tells you how to survive in this line of work. This is very useful to those who are considering this line of so they are not going into it blindly. The three tips are useful, have a reliable broker, reliable equipment and finally the money. The last paragraph is another I thought was very important. The advice is similar to one, it serves as a kind of back track, but I believed is deemed useful, mainly because of one of the lines used. If you do not enjoy this line of work, you basically need to figure it out in an early stage before you invest too much time and money. |
