I found this project to be very meaningful for various reasons. First off, I was compelled as to how much I was able to relate to my interviewee as we both attended Mt. San Antonio College and found to have shared similar views regarding entrepreneurship. It was even humorous when he compared and contrasted us by Kobe Bryant’s quote, “We are the same beast, different animal.” I found that it was utmost inspiring to not only be given the opportunity to network with an entrepreneur but also, a possible mentorship. It appeared that the interviewee had a very positive experience by having recollected all his hardships and triumphs throughout his entrepreneurial ventures. He seemed to have been regenerated by his trying to explain what embodies a successful entrepreneur. Once we started speaking about his business objectives as well as his overall vision, I genuinely felt a great sense of admiration for him. I felt that he was in fact explaining to me what he had yet to accomplish before reaching self-actualization and maximizing his happiness throughout his lifetime. Essentially, I gained a personal sense of connection between the man behind the business which allowed me to understand what the firm’s latent content regarding its core structural values. This man was moved by his first experience as a care provider which led him to advocate state legislature, organize a non-profit, as well as to indulge himself in his passion to the point of exhausting his marriage. This man epitomized what an entrepreneur is characterized by. This project led me to consciously perceive the immense commitment, hard work, and most importantly, personal life fulfillment gained from achieving your professional goals which are in this case inseparable from personal goals. |

The most meaningful part of this project was the actual interview process of the chosen entrepreneur. I say this because it was very engaging to hear a person talk about something they are so passionate about. Of course most people want to go into business to make money but when you are able to match a niche and a passion I feel you truly reach success. As I am an entrepreneur it was interesting to learn more about myself and the mistakes and positive steps I made in getting to this point as we are always striving to get better. This assignment was helpful in gaining insight to another entrepreneur but it had other benefits for me as well. I was able to ask myself these very same questions and as I answered I discovered some positive points of interests I can address to become a better businessman and person. |

The aspect of this project that was most meaningful to me was just being able to hear first hand what it's like to start and then run a small business. Its a different thing to hear and learn about it in class then it is to have inside information from someone who is actually experiencing it. It's also a great way to learn some of the mistakes that some business might make and be able to stay away and avoid repeating those same mistakes when I choose to start my own business. One of the questions that I think i took into consideration the most was the one about the three topics the entrepreneur wish he would have known and studied before starting his business. I acknowledge that there will always be something that you wish you could have fixed, or looking back on maybe you could have done more efficiently, but just looking back on that question makes me want to learn everything I can about small business in order to have the best success I possibly can. I really enjoyed this project and I think its something that has benefited me greatly. |

One of the most important things I was able to take away from this was the utilization of technology that is available and what the future of that same technology will hold. The next would be to utilize the courses available to me currently that I use to help shape a business I want to create in the future. Another piece of information that really stuck with me is how easily someone can get started with doing what they love on accident, because they are able to provide sufficient skill level and technical know how in order to provide a profitable service. Lastly the challenges a business faces is what really sticks when looking over the interview. There are many difficulties and some I never thought of until pointed out which show just how many variables come into running and creating a flourishing business. Technology plays an important role in every business today, no matter what industry and a device as simple as the tablet is able to bring so much more to the table than just personal use and games. The utilization of apps on tablets and creativeness of the user can bring to life a mobile business. Then subjects from school are an important factor as well. These courses allow me to gain further knowledge about what it is I like to do and other courses that allow me to create a solid foundation of a business and how to run it. Last are the challenges a business faces. Although successful businesses seem to have everything going for them at some point the smallest things could have been detrimental to their business when first starting. Taking the time to think about what kind of business I want to start and applying the different possibilities of challenges I could face along the way will better prepare me for the future of my operations will be run. |

To me this project was very meaningful. I got the chance to pry into the mind of a successful business owner. I also got a chance to see what it really takes to become a business owner. this project also gave me the opportunity to network a little bit seeing how networking is important to business it's a good thing to start. I learned that you need to have a thick skin to get into any type of business. You also need to be prepared to fail. |

I personally found that this "interview project" was enjoyable because I love to hear people in general tell me about their life experiences. This project helped me to get to know my repair shop owner a little better than before by his telling me of his business life of the last 32 years. A business owner will have much to tell about the ups and downs of the business life. I just wish more business owners would take the time to be interviewed because I would love to hear more experiences from business owners so as to be able to let them be like mentors to me. Well, at least the owner of [Name Removed] gave me the time of day to answer these questions and that I appreciate it because that tells me that he is truly loyal to even his loyal customer of many years (15 years). This interview project helped me to better understand what a business owner must be aware of at all times. A business owner must always be ready to deal with change. A business owner must always have a plan-B so as to be ready to do different business or a different line of work because no one ever knows what tomorrow will bring. Many businesses failed during the Great Recession due to being overextended with borrowing money. I believe strongly that the owner survived the Great Recession because he has such a loyal customer base and has never borrowed money. This owner wondered at times during the Great Recession whether or not enough business would return so as to make keeping the business open a reasonable course to continue to follow. |

The most meaning full thing about this project is learning what it takes to be a true entrepreneur. There are many things to consider when you are the boss of your own company. It takes a lot of research and time to be a successful businessperson. She put a lot of things in perspective on how good key points to focus on when starting the business I choose to enter and gain experience in the field so I can adapt quickly and learn to solve the common problems within that business. I learned also about being able to set your own rules and create a business that generates good customer service/product and that will help push the business in the write direction. Another meaningful thing about this project was that I was able to interview my mom. I have never thought of asking her these questions and I learned a lot from her even though I help her at her business often. I also learned and heard about a few stories on what she used to do and what it took for her to be such a disciplined hard worker/ boss everyday of the year. She has definitely shown me the true nature of an entrepreneur by risking it all to raise me and my two siblings by her self and run a full operating business from a 2 star to a 5 star on trip advisor. She is truly a remarkable person and I am glad I can call her my mom. |

The most meaningful response in my opinion was providing a good product or service that you can believe in. If you have a product you trust that you can be honest about when making a sell, It’s going to make a name for itself. Everything eventually builds a reputation, so if your product is something people trust then you’re going to get referrals and returning customers that are loyal to your company. Having a good sales team to drive sales is another key component to having a successful business. With those two components, you’ll be able to make a good reputation and that really helps when expanding your business. Also, he doesn’t believe in acquiring loans or using credit to receive money to start up a business. This is a slower approach on getting a business where you want it, but it can be more effective in the long run. If you slowly build your company by using only profits to grow it, you value every decision more because you are limited on funds. I feel people make better decisions when they are limited so it can beneficial when it comes investing money into your company. Loans can be good to jump start a business but if you don’t have the experience in that field, there’s going to be a lot of problems you haven’t thought about happening. Also, the down side to loans and using credit is the debt you are putting yourself in. If the business fails, you have to figure a way to pay a lot of money back. |

I think this project made me more motivated to start my own business. The person I interviewed was someone I admired very much and I was so grateful she agreed to do the interview with me. I too have a passion for fashion and would like to start a small boutique. The business owner I interviewed gave me great advice and thought my ideas were intuitive and unique. I feel a lot more confident in starting a business now more than ever. After this project and with the knowledge I've gained in class I feel I am knowledgeable in my area of business. I have learned so much in class. I had no idea what a business plan was or that I had to show other people. I know that whether I manage someone else’s business or my own I will be capable of doing my job. I believe I am a strong leader and have an optimistic outlook on ideas. I know that when I do decide to start my business I will spend all of my time perfecting my business plan. I want to establish my credit so I can be approved for a business loan and also save my own money and set it aside for my business. I want to make sure if and when I do hire on employees they hold themselves with respect and integrate. I want to be cautious and thorough with anyone I bring into my business. |

It allowed me to get a better perspective on how to run and maintain an establishment. Many factors play into part and need constant monitoring to keep a business running. Having a strong marketing team and following with social media while keeping up with all the latest trends will give me an advantage against my competitors and grasp unknown customers that follow social media closely. Also instilling customer service in employees will generate a successful business. This is all important to me as I hope to open my own set of several restaurants. The interview helped me see how a successful restaurant is opened and how it grows and flourishes against competition. |
