The most meaningful thing I took from the project is how passionate people can be about their business. Learning about what peoples thought processes are when thinking about starting a business has to bring them fear to the person but people do it daily. Learning about how the businesses are constantly changing and things that I would think would be a small advance in technology can do so much for people. Technology can allow them to become more successful and allow them to get their job done easier just by pulling something out of his/her pocket. Therefore learning how to adapt to new ways of getting the job done will help you become a more successful person in your own business ventures and may keep you ahead of the curve your competitors may not be able to catch up. This project has also given me an opportunity to see how much someone actually has to go through to start a business. There are so many different things that one must stay on top of just to be able to make money let alone be a successful business. The biggest thing I think anyone can take from this project from talking to a small business owner is to have a passion about what you want to do with your business if that’s what you want to do. Don’t try to do something just because it’s profitable if you don’t enjoy doing it, its nit going to be worth doing it you will get no gratification from doing it. |

I found this project to be meaningful because you truly get to see what it takes to start a business. I was able to gain insight about the hard work, countless unpaid hours and dedication that was needed to get a business going. If I decide that I want to start my own business, I was able to see what would be needed, how much time went into research and everything that really makes a business work. A business does not just happen over night but through many hours, days, weeks, months and even years of planning and research. I also got to learn what was done to keep the business going. Many businesses either decline or even fail due to a lack of hard work, research and staying on top of things like keeping up with new trends. It takes a lot of hard work to start a business and be an entrepreneur. It is not as easy it we may think when we walk into a store or order something online. Those who have set up these businesses have poured their everything into them and it may not be easy, it is very rewarding. I have learned a lot of great information from this project. With this knowledge, I can really see how an entrepreneur can make good or bad choices in the world of business. I can see what it took to get where a business is and how it can always be improved. This information has been very rewarding and can be applied to anything, even beyond business but everyday decisions and life. |

It was interesting to do this project because of course we all know what an event planner does but to actually interview someone who is in the business gives you insight to the dirty side. What really goes on during these event planning’s, the good, the bad - I never knew it was such a stressful job. You can have wonderful clients from start to finish or you can have a bridezilla in the making. I’ve always thought about party planning for myself but I never put myself into the situation. I knew the general basics of what they do but to see firsthand what comes out of an event is crazy! I actually got to see her work an event and although I didn’t see the beginning, I did see the final product and it was amazing. To think that a 3 women team did all that was very empowering. It made me really want to sit down and see if that’s what I want to eventually do. It takes a lot of time and dedication but I mean, the end results are amazing when you see the final product and know that it all came from you. It was an eye opener to see how clients act to those who work for them too. I can't wait to potentially set myself in that situation. |

This project gave me an insight into what running a business is really like. It basically showed the pros and cons of owning your own business. In interviewing him, I learned about ways to make connections. He talked about the trade show he goes to annually and all the people he meets with the same passion as him. As well as the trade shows, it was nice knowing that something as simple as YouTube videos can be useful. Another great advice he mentioned is staying relevant. Using social media to understand the new trends that may help run a business. Or using social media as a marketing strategy. My interviewee had great advice. The entrepreneur I interviewed went into his business completely on his own. He was able to build something out of a passion that he had. It just goes to show that if you put your mind into something, and you work hard, it will pay off. The advice that he gave me at the end of our interview will help me when I am ready to start my own business. He gave me great examples on how to achieve and even how to create my goals. It was nice seeing that having a passion for something can really lead to accomplishments. All the information I received in this interview was extremely helpful. I am thankful for the opportunity to be able to interview a business owner. |

This assignment is very interesting to me and let me open my eyes , my mind. Because I have a small business right now ( sale fashion jewelry on amazon, import from China ), I asked myself all of these questions first, and the answers let me see the vision of my business more clear. I begin to realize what is my biggest challenges today and keep thinking how to approach toward each. For instance, jewelry design is one of the most important thing for my business, however, we are not good at creating very popular fashion style and keep renew it. I begin to thinking about using outside resources to achieve. My friend [Name Removed] provide different perspectives of these questions. She and her partner run a small business very well and work hard to make it better. The most meaningful part of this project was [Name Removed] suggest me focus on the passion and love the business as they are. Then you will have better live and better business. Also, she mention about business plan several times, explaining how important it is.Fortunately, I have the particular section of business plan in my class book,I want study it carefully and give the book to her after this semester. |

I feel just seeing all the work that goes into a business, even as small as a t-shirt company, seeing all of that come to be, was the most meaningful. I couldn't imagine what it would be like owning a big time corporations or something like that. So much work, time and money has to go into it and a lot of times if you aren't prepared or know what you are getting yourself into, you will lose that time, that work will be all for nothing and that money you have will be gone. This really showed me that although starting a business and being an entrepreneur sounds so appealing and relatively easy, there is so much that has to go into it and you need to have a good support system backing you up. Seeing a business owner lay out his format (not exactly spot on) but to see a business owner lay out the ideas and show ways that he used to get himself up and going was really influential. It really paints it in perspective and it allowed me to use his advice and possibly craft my own ideas into it. Expanding what he said and adding to it. He said a lot of helpful things and i feel if i were to start up a company now, i wouldn't say i'd be ready for it, but i'd be somewhat prepared to know what is coming. |

It was meaningful to me because I got to interview my dad and get some business insight from him. Yeah I’ve heard of him talk about his business and what he does but not to this point about why he did what he did a stays working for him. I respect him more than I have as a business man because I’ve seen him grow his business from the ground up and I’m just really proud of him. |

Answer: The most meaningful part to me about this project was actually being able to get in touch with someone who use to do commercial acquisitions. I have slowly been developing a relationship with this individual and will luckily be guided in the long term. I realized this project would have helped me even if I didn’t meet this certain individual because it would have allowed me to make a connection with an entrepreneur and by doing so I could learn from their experiences and possibly avoid certain failures. Also I found this project to be very meaningful because it helped us to push ourselves away from our comfort zones by doing research on people whom have their own businesses. As far as the questions go, I found question number one and number eight to be the most useful. He helped me realize the importance of cold calling as well as how important it really is to be ahead of everyone else since it can open up much more opportunities. For question number eight I realized that finding a mentor is highly essential not just for this industry but any in general, it is always best to know someone with experience who can guide you. He also did mention the importance of building a strong business plan which I believe is very essential as well. So what I will be doing in the future is building a good network with a few whom I would like to keep close in touch with, ranging from an accountant, lawyer, and entrepreneur in my field of industry who can all each individually evaluate my business plan. |

This project reminded me of why I wanted to start my business, and it made me reflect on myself and my life and gave me hope. I decided to interview my husband for this project. [Name Removed] handles payroll, advertising, bills, and inventory while I take care of the pet grooming and employees. We started the business together four years ago when we were still in college, and now we have over 100 reviews on Yelp! Which still surprises me because we are only four years old, and other business are open way longer with less than 30 reviews! It is actually our salon's 4th birthday today- April 21, 2012 was when we first opened doors in West Covina. This project made me appreciate where we came from and look forward into the future to see where we are going. When I started I was grooming dogs on the floor in my laundry room and now I'm grooming dogs to show in contests! It's been an honor to be a part of the community and to do what I do everyday. No two days are the same and it's been an rewarding experience to do what I love and make a living out of it. Working with my best friend is a plus as well. |

This project was very eye opening for me. I was struggling to find out what I might want to do when my football days are over. I've always wanted to stay close to the game because my love for it is so strong, but I never knew what exactly it would be. I've pondered ideas such as broadcast journalism to cover the games and sports agency, but coaching seemed like the best option. I got into coaching a little bit when I was back home during last fall by coaching JV quarterbacks and helping with the varsity quarterbacks at my old high school in Las Vegas. I enjoyed it, but it's not a job that I can make a good living to support my family. To make enough money to support a family while just coaching would be to get a full-time job at a university or in the pros. Making my own quarterback coaching and development company would be great to not only coach, but also make a decent living. |
