The leadership is most meaningful to me about this project. After this interview I have better understood the leadership. It’s a big difference between a boss and a leader. A strong leader can let the employees know the company is going somewhere. A strong leader assigns tasks that show a clear vision for the company's future, and provides team members the necessary assurance they’re actually working toward something. It’s amazing what a bit of aim can do, and the ensuing morale boost drives quality and results that a boss simply can’t achieve. Confidence and faith in a leader has the potential to boost morale, and provide employees with the motivation to contribute to company culture. For the reason of leadership is meaningful is I didn’t know the differences between leader and boss. In my opinion, they are both same, but they totally different. A successful organization and businesses need effective leaders. The leadership of effective and well trained leaders is paramount to providing an agreed upon goal for the company’s success. Leaders are invaluable when it comes to formulating and communicating new strategic directions, as well as communicating with and motivating employees to increase dedication to organizational goals. Therefore, leadership is meaningful for me. |

I think that this interview project was very helpful and very exciting because I myself who wants to start up a business would finally be able to get and gain that insight and knowledge that I need. I was also very excited to be able to interview someone who has business experience and is able to learn from their knowledge on what I can and cannot do, how to handle a business, how to take care of it, who to hire, and how to be successful at the same time. At first, I was kind of scared because I did not have any idea who I can interview; then luckily, I remembered a friend of mine knows someone who owns an ice cream business. After getting insight on their business, I was very amazed. I learned that in order to thrive and be successful, you must think outside the box. Rather than sticking with a traditional way, in order to be successful, you must take risks, think outside the box, be creative, and try to be original than being the same as everybody else. During on our one on one interview, one of the things that struck on my head is that communication is one of the key factors to becoming success in a business. You must always build a good connection whether it is your workers, business partners, and or customers. Another key factor that I learned to become a successful business is that you must be observant. Always, look out for the newest trend, how it could affect the economy and customers, and etc. And lastly, the last thing I learn from this interview that became very meaningful to me which gave me that motivation is that when [Name Removed] told me “just because things don’t work out, don’t give up if you really aspire to be an entrepreneur. It takes a lot of risks, sweat, and effort; but just enjoy the ride.” |

The most meaningful about this project was everything to me because I learned a lot about having a business and its not easy to start up one. To start up a business you need a financial plan, costumers, and a good location without of any of these there’s no business. I learned that we need a good credit to run a business without this you can not get a credit loan for a business to start up. Overall the project was worth working with because I got to learn about a business. |

During this project I realized a lot of things. First I realized that people who own their own business have very little time on their hands. Getting my entrepreneur to take the time to help me with this project was very difficult, so it had to be done via email. I've learned that people really dedicate all their time to their business because they are putting their heart and soul into it and have no time for distractions. I've also learned that it is extremely important that I know what I am getting into, and I do all my research before trying to get started. I think one of the most important things to do when starting a business is to be prepared for anything to happen. It could be extremely successful or it could fail within the next few months. What really matters is how much hard work you put into it and how well you worked. I think it is important to take a step back and focus on the consumer sometimes because you have to know when something is going out of style or becoming obsolete. I've seen plenty of businesses come into my city and leave soon after because they didn't market themselves well and didn't attract to their customers/consumers. Which brings me to my next point of what really was meaningful about this project to me, which is acknowledging that marketing is the only way to bring in clients or customers to your business. I learned how important it is to market your business but in the right trends, otherwise your business can fail. Lastly, I would say that what is meaningful to me about this project is that it gave me experience. The more experience a person has, the better off they are in life. And I feel through the talk I had with this business owner, he really put it into perspective for me on what I should really expect about getting into a business. I feel more comfortable now with the experience I had during this project than I did before, because now I have an idea on what to expect if I ever chose to open up my own business. This project was definitely a fun and informative experience that will help me in my future careers. |

I think the most meaniful part of this project was the fact I found an entrepreneur in the same kind of business that I want to get into. There was nothing better than finding someone doing what I want to do with my life, and just being able to communicate with him and learn from him. It was such a cool experience and I'm so happy I was able to do this project. Even when he didn't say much, (see #8) it still spoke volumes. It resonated with me, and threw more fuel on the fire. So just being able to speak to someone who started up their company, and are thriving in the industry I want to enter is just so incredible. Another thing about this project that I will most definitely take away with me, is the information he provided. More specifically Rezdy.com. I checked out that site just to confirm it was a real site, and see what it was like, and it's incredible. Tons of people in the industry are out there supporting each other, learning from each other, and inspiring each other. It was like finding a secret club or a speakeasy full of people that you find interesting and want to interact and learn from. The amount of resources that the site offers is worth looking into. I can't wait to be able to participate and network with the people who are on that site. |

This interview project gave me an insight on how an entrepreneur started and how they worked their way up. The most meaningful moment about this interview was seeing how passionate Maddie is until now towards her art work. I have known Maddie since we were in high school and we basically met when I saw some of her drawings on the cover of her binder and told her that they are amazing, then the rest is history. Seeing her smile when she talks about her art gave me a feeling that we should follow our dreams and love every moment of it. Whenever Maddie posts her artwork on Instagram, I post comments or critique her work because she wanted feedback from her friends and family. Those feedback help her on which to improve on or what she needs to change so that her customers will be more satisfied next time when they put orders in. It makes me proud seeing a friend of mine reach success because I knew how hard she wanted this business and make people’s imaginations come to real life in art form. It is an amazing feeling seeing her hard work, talent, and determination lead her to a successful business career. |

The biggest and most meaningful thing that I have gotten out of this project is, to find something that I am interested in, something that I will enjoy doing and will make money. Another thing that stood out, that I learned this semester, which came from the person that I was interviewing was, I heard about the importance of having a plan, and not just a plan in your head but a real business plan. Because in business and especially with a new business the plan tends to change. That’s just how it works, and if you have a really good plan to fall back on, the pivot change will not be that drastic. In my interview we had talked about the importance of building relationships, from the bottom all the way to the top. In our conversation it started off by talking about employees and the importance of not just being their boss but being someone who takes an interest in that employee, as a person as well as employee. When you have a small company such as his it is so much easier to accomplish this. Even when we were talking about vendors and the importance of having that good relationship, and not just with the vendors but also with your customers. I would like to think that this is the sole reason that these elements are the biggest part of any ones business. For me I really enjoyed this project; it opened my eyes to what an individual business owner goes through on a daily basis. |

Learning the importance of mentorship was a meaningful part of this project. I have learned that you cannot accomplish anything on your own. You need people to share their life experiences so that you can learn from them. You need people’s advise for making major decisions in life, such as starting a business. You need people in your life as a sounding board before you make the wrong decisions. Mentors can be just normal, honest, trustworthy people who are willing to open up their lives to you. It is a double blessing, however, when you find mentors in your life that have life experiences in the field you would like to venture into. The most meaningful part of this project was that I found a new mentor by simply asking for an interview. I have connected with a new person in the same field of business I want to enter. The entrepreneur was so transparent and very inspiring. The best part of the interview was when the entrepreneur addressed my issue of not starting a small business: Fear of failure. I was encouraged that I really have very little to loose and more to gain. Failure is only a means to measure your success when you succeed. I will strive to make all the wisdom I have documented here as my own when starting my business. |

9.This project gave me the opportunity to gain knowledge and more ideas on how and where I can establish my own business. It gave me ideas by seeing how she just made it happen, little by little, with the help of her family. It taught me how a business does not always have to go corporate, as long as I am motivated and passionate, it’s what really keeps your business booming. And how I should work with what I love to do so everyday can be something I look forward to. This woman inspired me to brainstorm on just small ideas about what I had in mind; such as places I am interested on opening up and types of restaurants I have an interest in. I learned how even local banks are able to benefit me in a small business. This project gave me to chance to see an example of sole proprietorship up close and personal. Making me realize the importance of advertising and getting to know my competitors. Being able to make deals and loyal customers. Also being able to see the importance of family or motivation that people may bring, but also being able to do it on my own if I do not have anyone. This is what I learned from the entrepreneurial project. |

The actual interview with entrepreneur was a great experience in this project. I learned so many things about starting up business and even learn from his ways to talk. I also had a chance to meet his employees and see what they do. He advised me important and great things about business, however I think the best part of the interview was what I observed in the company. This company have only 5 rooms for offices but there is huge warehouse on the back. I observed carefully what they doing in their work place. It gave me a valuable insight of process that how they make revenues from sales to shipment. They were also doing technical support and RMA management separately. He considered design as a very important part as well. Even though his company have only around 10 employees, all parts like sales, technical support, product design, inventory, shipping, AR, and RMA run smoothly. I was so impressed about this part. He also told me that his company attended ISC in Las Vegas few weeks ago. They purchased booth which costs more than $40,000 for a week. He was really serious about his business. I am surprised that he has not only short term plan for a few month but also has a several year long term plans. He even thought about selling his company after decent growth. The whole concept and thoughts about his business inspire me what I have to prepare if I start my own business. |
