NAICS: 722 Food Services and Drinking Places Description: American Food Restaurant |
I already had experience in the restaurant business. Also, I enjoy working with the public, working with food, and I love to eat. When I first came to this country, the first job I had while going to school was working at Denny's as a cook and eventually a manager. I really enjoyed cooking. So when I had a chance to open a business, I decided to open my own restaurant. I firsst opened a small fast-food persian restaurant in the food court of Del Amo Mall. That was going well and I enjoyed the business and decided to open my first full service restauarant a couple years later. However, I soon realized it is much harder to run a full serice restaurant than a fast-food restaurant. My initial goal was just to increase the gross sales of the business, by increasing the traffic, giving great service, and great food. My second goal was to do well enough to open a second location. |

NAICS: 323 Printing and Related Support Activities Description: Exhibit and graphic display |
I started by working at Cannon and I would travel around the west reagion of the United States and all of Canada. I would sell basic printing equipment to companies who sold display. Since I travel all over clients would ask me about other clients who I also sold to that printed projects; maybe at a lower cost or more efficiently becuase they all specialized in different things. I started giving information and before I knew it instead of being the yellow pages I was an agent for these firms. I was making money by helping them outsource diffent job from clients I meet working for Cannon. I thought of this as a hobbie but business took off and I had to open the doors to my business. |

NAICS: 484 Truck Transportation Description: Owner operator commercial truck driver |
I got started in this business because of the money that I was told that was possible to earn from becoming an owner operator. I also enjoy the freedom that you get by being your own boss, working the hours that you want and not having to report to anyone, not having to clock in or out and have to deal with other superior over you. My initial goal was and is to duplicate and expand my business/company as in getting more trucks and having more drivers work for me. |

NAICS: 722 Food Services and Drinking Places Description: Mexican Restaurant |
Because it’s a family business, my mom and dad needed to open another business. They were very fortunate to be successful with their first restaurant and so... my mom is a go getter, she’s like, “oh well it’s only money”. It was initially a tax write off but turned into the next generation’s family business. |

NAICS: 448 Clothing and Clothing Accessories Stores Description: Vintage Clothing Online Shop |
I decided to begin my business when I started finding a lot of gorgeous vintage clothes that were not my size but I did not want to part with it. I thought it would be good to start a small shop but did not know where to start. I searched online for other vintage shops and found etsy.com. My initial goal was to sell part time and for fun. It has grown as I now have more business knowledge, loyal customers and an expanding inventory. |

NAICS: 315 Apparel Manufacturing Description: Website, clothing company |
My goal the whole time was to get rich. It sounds bad but it’s the truth, I have always wanted to be rich and have always thought that I had the means to do it, so the business is my way of putting my money where my mouth was all my life. In the short term, the goal of the site is to gain enough of a following to expand a recognizable brand, and subsequently launch a semi-associated clothing brand. As with any business, the long-term goal is to have the venture at a point where operations are running themselves and I can be the necessary amount of invested in my new project. I chose to start with an Internet site primarily because of the low overhead and mass audience. As soon as the site went public, we were global! Visuals and graphics are also my strong suit, and websites put heavy emphasis on this aspect. Also, the theme of our website is very edgy and thus appeals to a specific market, and this market is by-and-large the heaviest users of the Internet. |

NAICS: 313 Textile Mills Description: Textile Services |
The person I interviewed decided to get into the business after working in the company as a manager for 25 years. His knowledge of the company and service helped to ease him into buying the business from the owner. It was also pleasing to him because he felt that he was learning something new daily. His initial goal was to make more money than his salary as a manager and to have a legacy that he could pass down to his family. |
