I’ve already escaped the bad conditions of my country, and in this “Land of Opportunity”, I had to make something of myself. I grew up being fed tales of doctors and lawyers. Of course I was enticed by the amount of money and respect either brought to the table. Being a lawyer was out of the question as I did not know any English, so I thought that a doctor was the right choice. As I became more knowledgeable, I realize that working at hospitals wasn’t so amazing, it seemed terrifying to me. Still, I wanted to work in the medical field, so I transitioned into studying dentistry. After those hard years at USC, I had finally achieved something, a high paying job, and a role that my parents would approve. After working under the wings of other dentists for a few years, I decided it was time to increase my pay, not for me but for the future as I still had other family members who have yet to migrate. Seeing how much success my bosses were having with their offices, I decided to open one up. |

| Ever since I was a young kid I have always been interested in drawing. It wasn't until about Middle School when people started noticing my drawings from others. I liked to draw many things such as skulls, and monsters like frankenstein. In High School I drew a portrait of a picture of my Grandmother, My father talked to me about Aztec Warriors and the Aztec Empire from our Mexican Culture and soon I became interested in Aztec Artwork, it also helped that I graduated From Azusa High School, a School with a mascot of an Aztec, everything just fell into place. By the mid 80's tattoo's were starting to become a bit more of a trend, though at that time it was more biker gangs, and gang members that had tattoos. I became fascinated with tattoos so I had decided to buy a tattoo gun and start tattooing people in the neighborhood, i would charge about $15 at the time for anything, my goal was to then open up my own shop, getting more cliental and hopes in making it big! That's when i had the idea of the name for my business - a catchy name, and nothing offensive, it took about 3 years to get everything finalized but in 1992 is when we first opened up, and now 18 years later we're still going strong, we are actually now known for being world famous, and have many other shops around the city of Azusa, and Irwindale. |

| My dad and I were the ones who originally started up the firm. I have always loved and enjoyed playing video games and my dad knows that, so when he was trying to start up his own business and needed ideas on what to do, I gave him the perfect idea. We knew that in the area that we lived in, there was not a whole lot of computer places let alone Internet cafe's there at the time. It was the perfect plan. We found a great spot located in Chino Hills for a reasonable price and we started the process. It was only a matter of time before we were brushing up on our painting and carpentry to get the space ready for the computers. Since then it's been a great experience. The initial goal of ours was to just start it up for a few years and then sell it but it has just been a great thing for not only the family and others working here but myself as well. It's the best job I have ever had and as of right now, I wouldn't trade it for the world. |

| At a young age, I always wanted to have money. I started working at 14, by cutting the grass, or distributing newspapers. I remember working at a liquor store with my brother, and making $4.20 per hour. Then, I got my first born; I decided to try working with my friend, who was digging dirt for his cousin. This is how I got introduce to the work. I will make $80 per day, working 5.30 am until 8.00pm or even later. After 2 weeks of this schedule, I got tired of that, and realize that I could do better than my friend’s cousin. In fact I decided to have my own crew. People’s jealousy made me work harder and it worked out. Within 6 months, I was running a crew of 5 to 7 workers, and was working 7 days a week, but I was still subcontracting. I will get a percentage of the contract. Then I decided to open a warehouse, where I was selling plumbing supplies. It was a bad investment, so I had to go back on the field, and realized that if I wanted to be ahead and make more money, I will have to go get my contractor license that I got late 2008. Even with recession, I am still able to have a decent income. |

| Well before I started this business I was working for a school district, and the economy started to get bad and got laid off. So then while that was going on me and my husband were plaining our wedding. And then we looked into decorations for the wedding and I had some good decoration ideas. But I did not pay it no mind, then my husbands mother and father told me I should open up my own decorating business for weddings and other events. And they were serious about it, so I began to think about it, like I do have great ideas for weddings, and events. Then decided to go into my own business starting in 2004 to the present. But it was all a joke and a mistake she said, I never thought I would have my own business. So she thanks her husbands Mother and Father for incouraging her to start this business, and I did it with my own money she said. And it continues to grow over the years. Now I am still homebased and trying to raise a family, while my business makes just under $300,000 thousand a year with only three employees. And she said it was a joke, Never supposed to happen! |
