NAICS: 711 Performing Arts, Spectator Sports, and Related Industries Description: soccer club |
I decided to make this soccer club because soccer is my passion and I really enjoy teaching soccer to players that want to learn and increase their knowledge of this beautiful sport called soccer. But the biggest reason is that I wanted to make a club for all those low income families that have kids that want to play soccer but do not have the financial means to pay for an expensive soccer club and provide a save and productive environment for players and keep our player of the streets. |

NAICS: 561 Administrative and Support Services Description: Janitor/Housekeeping Business |
I decided to get into this business because there is always a lot of work here and there are people who are always busy and want someone to clean their houses or buildings for them because they just do not have time to do it by themselves. When I started this business, I was told that it was not going to be easy to start it because there was a lot of competition, but the necessity to earn money and support my family made me go into this business. My initial goal was to do a good and quality job and to make my customers thank me for my work done. |

NAICS: 445 Food and Beverage Stores Description: Online Wine Retail Store |
Well, this business (wine retail store and e-commerce website) is a by-product of my existing business (Italian restaurant). I always look for opportunities to grow laterally or vertically, because that is always the easiest place to start. It is easier because you have an advantage, you don’t want to start learning something brand new that you know nothing about. People have a lot of opportunities always in front of them that they don’t recognize, until they discover it within their own backyard. And for us, we had a large wine inventory and we were in the restaurant business. It was born from thinking of ways to capitalize on that. Well, let’s start moving into that business; we already have knowledge of it. That is kind of the way it started. The initial goal was simple; I just wanted to succeed. It wasn’t necessarily that I wanted to make X amount of dollars. It wasn’t about that. I had an idea, it was almost like a game. I wanted to create a business that obviously creates a profit, because that is the measurement of success. But there are other measurements of success too. Growth, volume, market share; those are all challenging. The goal is to grow at a pace where the business is progressing and it can continue to move forward, and it’s not out of control and can continue growing. It has to be a stable business, anybody can have rapid growth, but the difficult part is sustaining it. Sustaining your business is key. I always like to grow in a controlled way. We move forward, we know what we have, and we already know the next step. We get everything in place; all of our assets in place so that we can get to the next level. What is the ultimate goal? Well, the goals always change. The goal is always success, but it’s not like I said that I want to be number one in California. That has nothing to do with it. It’s really hard to quantify anything like that. So I thing the goals constantly change. But a lot of that goal is simply to succeed and accomplish. It may be at slower rate or it may accelerate quickly. The market may welcome my business and all of a sudden I have tremendous sales. Now, what you thought was successful is no longer successful. A business may blow that out of the water in the first three days. If my business breaks my yearly goals in the first month, it’s not like I am just going to give up and be satisfied. So I have to adjust my goals accordingly. Now that I have this base, where do I go from here. If the business has done this much, let’s take it to the next level. Let’s do maybe 20% or 30% more there. Let’s expand our market share, let’s expand the number of products we are selling. That is how I go about it. If things don’t go as well then I thought, then I look at what I’m doing. If the business is not doing as well, do I have excess costs, too much payroll, or too many expenses? I adjust along the way. Ultimately, the goal is just to succeed and generate a profit. |

NAICS: 722 Food Services and Drinking Places Description: Steak and Burger Restaurant |
I decided to go into the restaurant business so I can work for myself. I do not really like having a boss and I would rather be my own boss. Also, I did not want to worry about being fired from my job and instead I would rather be financially dependent. My initial goal was to make money without working for someone else. |

A few friends who were older then me started their own auto insurance agency. I went to work for them, then got into commercial insurance, due to the fact that sales were much higher than personal policies. My initial goal was to obtain all facets of product knowledge, and risk management skills. Another goal was to build up to $5,000,000 $10,000,000 in annual sales. |
