NAICS: 532 Rental and Leasing Services
Description: Apartment Rentals
I decided on this type of business back when I was eighteen years old working for a man as a maintenance man, who owned rental properties. After seeing the return and type of business it truly was, it inspired me to start my own. Still continueing to work for this man, I saved a portion of every pay check until i was able to afford my own building and started from there. And from 1975, my business became to slowly grow to what it is today. What I have today may not be a massive corporation, but a business which provides a steady income to provide a great retirement and live a little above middle class.

I got into this field because working on cars is my passion and is what i am good at. I had a lot of support from my family, friends and other peers to make this passion into a hobby. While thinking about this i hated working for other people and why not start my own business, be my own boss while making some money on the way. My overall goal was to make some money to take care of my family as well as myself. I knew what i was getting into and there was no turning back, i had support from people and a passion, so i thought there was no way i can go wrong.

Well I didn't actually decide to go into this kind of business I actually kind of fell into it. I would cook for girl scout events where schools and other people wanted to pay me to cook.  And from there it grew and took a life of it's own where I was now getting paid doing something that I enjoyed doing eveyday.

NAICS: 236 Construction of Buildings
Description: Construction / Framing
It was a natural evolution to own a Framing company in my carpenter career. The general I was building for gave me an opportunity start my own business. He was unhappy with the performance and business practices of my current employer. (The sub-contractor I was working for.) He came to me with an offer based on my reputation and his observations of my work as a foreman in the construction trade. His knowing that I could run, and run well, a framing crew gave him the confidence to back me financially. I applied for and obtained a C-3 Contractor’s License. His general contractor’s license limited him to orchestrate only three trades. In addition, his general liability insurance was limited to three trades as well. He saw an advantage in helping me to start my own business, and financially he was willing to help. The biggest help he gave was cosigning for me; and, helping to establish a credit line with the suppliers. He also made certain I had the capital to carry out day to day operations. My Initial goal was to make money in a trade that was fun and came natural to me; and, to build a business model that demonstrated what I have learned in the construction trade concerning the treatment of employees and customers. I wanted the people who worked for me to be satisfied with their job and the people I worked for to be happy with the work we did. How did you decide which type of business was best for you? Well, I wasn’t sitting around with money and business ideas. It was a natural progression to start a business in the construction trade. I started in construction stacking lumber for $6.00 an hour. Through hard work and diligence I learned as much as I could as fast as I could, and with a strong work ethic supplied by my father I was able to excel.

Well, I started singing when I was really young. I had a natural ability for music. Music is in my bloodstream. I thought my initial goal was to pursue a career in singing but over the years I realized the difficulty of the industry was way too much. So then I started thinking of alternatives to take advantage of my talents. I then started writing music and producing. I fell in love with the art.
