NAICS: 722 Food Services and Drinking Places
Description: Cookies and Pastries
Well this started off as I hobby. I taught myself how to do everything by watching YouTube videos. I lot of it though is basic baking skills the only challenging part can be decorating but once you experiment then you get the hang of it. I buy all the supplies from Michaels and I just started making sweets. A lot of it is just learning how to decorate and knowing what products to use and how to use them when baking something. I initially started making sweets for close friends and family and eventually thought that this can be something bigger and be turned into a business. It’s just something that started as a side business.

Description: employment agency
I got hired through a staffing agency when I was 20. I got hired as a recruiter, I had no idea what recruiting was. The feeling of being able to help someone bring income to his or her household was rewarding. I became really good at recruiting and fell in love with the industry. I got involved with operations and sales in staffing. I thrived in it. I was 27 when I started my own business. My initial goal was to be in business to make money, be self-employed and help people by doing what I love and know best.

NAICS: 611 Educational Services
Description: Drug and Family Services
In some way or another I’ve always been drawn to this industry, first it was a vocational training program for many years. From there I worked with a nonprofit company called PHF Public Health Foundation, as an independent contractor. They worked with at risk youth incarcerated in the Juvenile System. I did classes for the youth and got involved that way. At one point the company I was contracting with was approached to put on Camp to Community Transition fair and they passed on it, saying it was too much work. At that time, I already had Motivational Systems, my small company. They asked if we could do it and how much it would cost, so I through a number out there, $250,000 and they came back and said can you do it for $125,000 and I said yes. It was a great opportunity, we scrambled to get everything together, but we had all the connections, and from then on Motivational Systems was on the lips of every probation officer in LA County. From there I met so many people in the “Family Service” industry and one person, who hired me to consult with her on a contract, later became a dear friend of my family and she convinced me to partner with her to do the PC 1000 program. Our goal was to save as many people as possible from drug addiction, as my partner had struggled with it in her early years.

NAICS: 541 Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services
Description: selling to clients through social media
I did not decide until later on, I was alright with a camera in a way, but was never that passionate. Back in 2016, my friends told me about Instagram and told me on my personal account that I had a good layout, including filters. I took that feedback from a handful of people my age roughly and decided to actually take photos that people requested for fun. I did not know, from the start, that I would end up doing it as a sort of part time job, not even that, more of like a hobby/business. I don't consider myself to be an entrepreneur though.

NAICS: 448 Clothing and Clothing Accessories Stores
Description: Custom wedding gowns and alteration
My mom knew how to sew, how to draw, color and decorate. She taught me how to sew small things and how to draw dresses from my imagination. At this point I knew I wanted to be in fashion. I had a great taste in fashion and I always knew how to put colors together. I got my bachelor’s degree in fashion, but I didn’t know that one day I would open my own business. I made my own wedding gown and the bridesmaids’ dresses for my own wedding day. Since that day I knew I wanted to open my own business. My initial goal was just to work for a designer. But, I didn’t stop there, and I achieved my own business and became a designer as well.

NAICS: 339 Miscellaneous Manufacturing
Description: Internet-of-Things Platform Technology provider
We had a disruptive idea and technology capability to create a low cost, low power, plug and play IoT device and platform that had applications across various markets. When integrated into their business landscape or applied to their product range, these IoT technology-based solutions can help create a connected ecosystem powered with seamless automation thereby resulting in improved business efficiencies, connectivity and returns on investments. The initial goal was to create a product for consumers to use for on demand grocery shopping at their fingertips – like a remote control for shopping. However, over time, we expanded our goals to encompass a broader range, as we realized the base technology was capable of much more.
