NAICS: 445 Food and Beverage Stores Description: Online Baked Goods |
When I first started cake and cookie decorating it started as a personal hobby I would do on my spare time with a friend of mine. We would go around to every Michaels craft store and take in-store classes, before I knew it, we had gone to every local craft store and completed their courses. I fell in love with it and knew I wanted to continue this further. From there I went back to school to learn all I could about the baking industry with a clear goal to make custom cookies. In 2015 when I started my business, I worked with mostly mothers for special family events but a couple of years into my business by simple word of mouth a High Retail store based in New York City reached out for a custom cookie order, which was an enormous success. Soon I was making custom cookies for them on a weekly basis for big launches and modeling shoots and eventually their “sister stores”. This is where I knew my business plan had to pivot to a more commercial clientele and soon started working with the industries top filming agencies like Fox, Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network. |

NAICS: 519 Other Information Services Description: Reselling Business |
I first started selling online in middle school with the intention of making some money to buy cool things like shoes and clothes. I would go to different thrift stores, garage sales, and book sales and purchase items that required low capital and sell them for a premium price on Ebay and offer up. Then as time went on and I went into High school I knew there was opportunity in e-commerce and instead of buying cool materialistic items I wanted to keep doing it to be free financially and be my own boss rather than work for an employer . |

NAICS: 339 Miscellaneous Manufacturing Description: Custom Outdoor Entertainment |
This business was actually a family business that I took over about 5 years ago. Before that, my dad ran it for over 15 years so there wasn’t really a reason why I got into it. I have always been interested in helping out the company and I even worked sales whenever he needed help so I at least had some sort of an idea of what I was getting myself into. However, when I first stepped in I didn’t even have the intention of taking it over. I really just wanted to keep it afloat to maybe sell it or find someone else to run it for us. Then, when I started getting into it and getting the hang of it, I was able to start seeing growth opportunities for the company that we were able to capitalize on and now looking back it was a great decision. |

NAICS: 524 Insurance Carriers and Related Activities Description: Insurance Agency |
I joined this industry over ten years ago, right after I graduated from college. Right after graduation, I was coincidentally recruited into a general management position in an insurance firm. I enjoyed the job because I was able to help others while improving myself. My initial goal was to just earn my wage as an employee. Later however, I became more interested in the role of an insurance broker, and thought about starting my own company to enjoy more freedom and a higher cut from commissions. Last year, when the COVID outbreak was becoming a big deal, I decided to make my dreams a reality and started my own company. I started a sole proprietorship company, a financial and insurance agency. That’s how I got into my business as an insurance broker and started my own company. |

NAICS: 484 Truck Transportation Description: Freight Business |
Economy was pretty weak at the beginning of the pandemic. I saw the opportunity in the growing in the logistics business and decided to give it a shot. At first, I and my partner work very hard to know, to understand logistics business and we tried to get truck licenses and work as drivers. So, we could have more direct experiences as being our own employee and understand the market price, the business functions and other staff. Our goal is simple, taking the chance to earn money. The result is way beyond our first expectation---that the pandemic greatly increases the demand of trucking and logistics and we indeed expand in a rather fast rate comparing to other new businesses. Of course, we do have lots of troubles and problems at the beginning and even now there are lots of things needs to be taken care of. |

NAICS: 541 Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services Description: Single/Multi family residential architect |
Passion, pure passion. I love architecture since elemantry school. Went through 5 years of undergraduate architecture program I felt I have invested so much to quit. I also enjoy the jobs. Seeing ideas in my mind transform into real buildings is fulfilling. Most of people spend 80% of their time indoor, architecture shape their way of life. Also architecture is more than just about making buildings, it provides safe accommodation, it provides convenience and it provides comfort and delight to occupants. So Im inspired by that. And the incomes is decent. |

NAICS: 446 Health and Personal Care Stores Description: Esthetician |
I decided to get into this particular business because it has always been a passion of mine. When I was little, one thing my mom and I used to do was put facial cream on our faces and lay there just relaxing until we fell asleep. Skin care was always something that stood out to me to try making a difference in people's lives, as a teenager I had really bad acne and part of it was the lack of care I put into my skin, but another part was sports. Practicing so much in high school ends up giving you a lot of acne if you don't give it the right care, and that's a pretty good fraction of my clientele, teens with acne or exercise related blemishes. Another thing that pushed me to get to where I am and start this business was, my sister ran into some money and decided to buy her own building where she learned and went to school to be an esthetician on the side. Being the sweetheart she is, she hired me as her secretary when I was only about fifteen or sixteen. After that, I really got to see for myself what they do, and how they do it, and I fell in love with it. Not only just for the treating acne, but for skin care in general. It's a relaxing procedure that will leave you more confident and more relaxed, which was something I wanted to bring to the table. My initial goal was to go to school, graduate, leave my sister's spa after two years, and then buy my own building like she did so I'd be setting my business to expand, but I realized that my clientele followed me, and expanding would have made me making less than I already was. That's something I didn't mention earlier, if your business, even as small as it is, is working then don't be in such a rush to expand. Expand when you're ready and can afford it and then some. |

NAICS: 315 Apparel Manufacturing Description: tshirt designing |
Since grade school, my interest has always been mostly Arts. Back then I did not know that I would be into the type of business that I am in now. It was not until I attended courses in college that I realized that I had to figure out what to do with graphic design. I soon understood that I needed to major in business and minor in graphic design. Once I had figured this piece, I started investing in myself. Investing in myself finally gave me a chance to really put my ideas into perspective and want to start my business right away. My initial goal to start was to get 1 major client. I knew if I could get one client then more would follow and see that my business is worth taking a chance on. |

NAICS: 311 Food Manufacturing Description: Artisan cupcakes in a variety of flavors are featured at this pet |
The reason I got into this business is since I can remember I loved to bake cakes and cupcakes for my family and friends. It slowly turned into a business from home. Once I decided this is what I wanted to do, I went to Le Cordon Blue College of Culinary Arts as a Pastry Chef. After that, I was working at different restaurants and bakeries and my at home business was blooming so I decided to open my own business but I did not have the income to do it on my own. Someone that has always been my number one fan and best supporter has been my mom Melinda. With her help we came up with the idea and a plan. Soon we opened our own business in Ontario and we became one of the Inland Empire’s first cupcake bakeries. Our business has been growing since we opened and we have won many awards which we are proud of. |
