Translate Your Military Occupation into a Civilian Career — All in One Place
Enter a Military Occupation Code (MOC) or a keyword from your military job title to identify matching civilian O*NET careers, explore related careers, review job listings, and access detailed career preparation resources.
This page will take you through 7 steps to identify civilian careers that match your military background, then explore those careers in depth. Enter your MOC code or a keyword from your military job title to get started.
Step 1: Enter Your MOC Code or Keyword:
Enter your Military Occupational Code (MOC) exactly — for example 0862, 0402, or HM — to find an exact branch match. Or enter a keyword from your military job title — for example intelligence, logistics, or hygiene — to search across all branches. Searches are matched against the MOC code, the military job title, and the DoD occupation title.
Step 2: Select Your Military Occupation:
Based on your MOC or keyword, you will see a table of matching military occupations from the DoD crosswalk. Each row shows the MOC code(s), military job title, DoD occupation, and the civilian career(s) that the military maps to. If the list is long, use the filter box above it to narrow results. Click the Military Job Title of the occupation that best matches your background.
Step 3: Select a Matching Civilian Career:
After selecting your military occupation, you will see the O*NET civilian careers that the DoD crosswalk maps to it (typically 1–4 options). Select the civilian career that best fits your goals. This is the career that all subsequent steps will focus on.
Step 4: Select From a Listing of Related Careers:
