| The business was initially inherited from my father after I completed college in 2010. While I was attending college, an economic recession hit (2008). Luckily for me, my parents told me to focus on my studies and not worry about getting a job until I graduated. Once I graduated, I found that jobs were scarce. If you were not doing an unpaid internship, you weren’t getting the high paying job that was promised by many after obtaining a bachelor’s degree. At that time, a bachelor’s degree meant nothing. So, I had a choice to make; either work for a frozen food company for $36k a year (median salary was $45k at the time), or go back to my grass roots and help the family business. I decided that the best thing to do was take over the family business and I haven’t looked back since. I feel like I have learned more just operating this business than I could have ever learned continuing my education. |
