NAICS: 236 Construction of Buildings
Description: General Contractor Serving Food Industries
My dad worked in the food processing Industry, It was his job to repair the equipment. He worked mainly in the meat industry and from that the construction started because the equipment grew and you had to build a wall or add a little room on, sometimes you even had to take the roof off of a building to add a little piece of equipment. So it started as a very small business. It was back when a hand shake was as good as a contract. My dad began to take me to work with him at the age of thirteen. I just know that in the time I spent working with my dad that contractors had a bad name. General contractor’s particularly, they would promise you everything and deliver you nothing. So my dad’s goal in the industry became my goal as well and that was to change people’s opinions of contractors one client at a time. Thirty seven years later that is still my goal. I need to make sure that my name is set apart and that my name spells service whenever someone looks for construction by either the internet, yellow pages or word of mouth. Providing great customer service is key along with promising and delivery on that promise. We go above and beyond to build a relationship that’s built on honesty, integrity, trust and quality of work.

NAICS: 238 Specialty Trade Contractors
Description: Air Conditioning Installation and Repair
Well, I worked as a technician in the trade, and made a decision to go into business for myself. My initial goal was to be sole proprietor, with total control of the business. I do not have a problem working with other people, and working according to someone else's rules, but it is a lot easier and a lot less stressful when you know that you are in control and you can do things the way you believe they should be done, or how you feel comfortable doing them. It is important to understand that not everyone thinks and works in the same way. Using this information, you must decide whether or not you are able to keep your opinions to yourself for the sake of your job, or if you need to form your own business in order to let your ideas flow.

Description: Skate and clothing store
Well I love skateboarding and I really didn’t want to get a real job as well as I saw a need that I didn’t feel was getting met. I started skating in elementary and I’ve been hooked ever since. I didn’t want to work construction, didn’t want to get a 9 to 5 sitting at a desk, I hate cops so that was out of the question. My initial goal was to last past the average life expectancy of a small skate shop…almost 1 year down 3 more to go I think.

I decided to get into this business because I can manage my own time. My initial goal was to become a licensed contractor. I always wanted to own my own business so I could create my own schedule and do something that I enjoy doing. I have practiced in the business for many years and thought that it would be the perfect opportunity to venture on my own. NAICS: 722 Food Services and Drinking Places
Description: Mexican Restaurant
Ever since I was little, I have always had a dream of owning my own restaurant. I would always mimic my mother when she would cook in the kitchen, and later when I was older I would use my mother's recipes to cook for myself and for others. My friends and family began to love my cooking, and it was with their love and support that pushed me to open my own restaurant. I enjoy the restaurant business above all others, because it allows me to make people happy by filling their stomachs with good food. My initial goal was to follow my dream of being a restaurant owner, but now in my later life my new goal is to provide security for my family. If I can continue to do what I love, and at the same time provide my family with the life that the deserve, then I have reached my goal.

NAICS: 311 Food Manufacturing
Description: Bakery Cafe
I never planned on becoming apart of this business. I was a musician for some time working at record stores and small venues. My parents bought the business in 1916 from the previous family, so I had grown up in the bakery and helped out as a kid but never had thought it would be where I ended up. Years after I graduated from Musicians Institute and my music career wasn't working out I decided to start working at the bakery again to make money and help out my family, what I thought would be a temporary job until I got back on my feet turned into many years and I then became the new owner/manager. It’s not to say I don't love the bakery and my job, because I do, I had just not planned on owning my parents bakery as a young adult.
