Growing up as a kid, I was always into sports. Loved sports! Skateboarding was always my favorite, number one sport to watch & play. Watching skateboarders doing crazy tricks in the air, & grinding on rails, were just a great thing to see. Watching them do these tricks, failing down & kept getting up to try to do these tricks were awesome & inspiring. Also while being into sports, I was into fashion as well. The t-shirts & logos they wore were awesome. One day I asked how can I do that? I was told the process of it all & it seem pretty easy to me. Then it hit me, why couldn't I do this? Create a logo, put it on a nice cool comfortable t-shirt, & sell it. That's how my company [Name Removed] was started. I wanted to create a brand that people can enjoy wearing, & it feels good to them.

NAICS: 531 Real Estate
Description: Real Estate Agency
Many years ago, my husband was studying to become a real estate agent. I helped him study and prepare for the state exam. Once he was licensed, I helped him with his paperwork basically becoming his assistant. Through him, we made many friends and connections in the industry. Then he became very ill and sadly I lost him. I decided to get my license and was offered guidance into the industry. My initial goal was that I thought this career would allow me to make more income and still the time to be with my children. You have to work really hard in this industry. It is also very important to always have a savings for the months when you have no properties closing.

NAICS: 326 Plastics and Rubber Products Manufacturing
Description: Thermo Resin Plastics Manufacture & Recycler
When I had married my wife I had just got out of the marine corps and I needed a job. I had a baby and a baby on the way and my father-in-law worked for a plastic sheet manufacturer and they needed someone to push a broom for them. It was the only job I could get at the time. I started pushing a broom at a company called Atlas Alchem. I worked myself up to be a machine operator, then a foreman. After foreman, I was promoted to outside supervisor. I eventually worked my way into the office where did sales. During that time I decided to put myself through college. With just a semester or two shy of my business degree, I opened up my own business. Less then 20 years later I bought that same building I started out pushing a broom in. My goal, when I started, was to own my own business someday and I guess my ego was big enough that I wanted to own the building where I started. Today, not only do I reprocess plastic, but I manufacture plastic sheet in that same building I started out in.

NAICS: 561 Administrative and Support Services
Description: buys dead uncollectable acconts to collect
Basically, I have been in the industry for about seven years; I got to the point where I was making good money and learn the trade well enough to seeing me owning my own collection company and doing well. I had acquired the necessary contacts and skills necessary and I made a goal for myself to partner up with a friend and to take the risk and open our own collection company. I am so glad I took the risk because now I am reaping the rewards.

NAICS: 722 Food Services and Drinking Places
Description: Coffee and donut shop
I got into this type of business because we saw a window of opportunity and we just wanted to take a chance with it. Like I said before initially I just got an opportunity to get into this business and I just went for it. When I came to this country I did not think that I would be doing this. I took this opportunity with the goal it being successful and to be able to provide for my family. It has been a few years now and I feel that we have been successful and able to survive to this point, but we need to continue and seek ways to get better at what we do. What started out as an opportunity has now become my life.

NAICS: 541 Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services
Description: Internet Cafe
In 1996, I traveled to New York city, on a business trip, and it was in this amazing city where I witnessed and experienced the potential growth as well as the excessive demand for the internet that society was having at that time. However, how I got into this type of business was not the popular demand for internet entirely, but the accessibility, being in a different country, I noticed the amounts of internet cafes that the city had. After realizing that the demand was massive, I noticed a blue ocean in my city because the accessibility for internet access was limited and therefore very profitable. Two year later, I decided to take leap of faith and soon after I quit my job, I used my monetary compensation and I opened my internet cafe . After terminating my affiliations with my company, I also realized that I wanted to be my own boss as well as expand my business knowledge on to my new business. My biggest desire was to prove to myself that I could be my own boss, for I had the desired to call my own shots, have a different lifestyle as well as recognize my entrepreneurial potential, and for many years that was my original goal, to be successful.

NAICS: 722 Food Services and Drinking Places
Description: Coffee Cart
I saw similar businesses when I travelled to the Northwest and thought that this business only requires a small start-up cost. Start-up cost is one of the key factors in starting a business, so one should always keep that in mind when going into any business venture. Along with how inexpensive it was to start up, was my want of my business to be flexible enough to work with the schedule that goes with having a family. I am a mother and wife so the ability to keep my work schedule balanced with my life outside of the business made running it an easy decision. In retrospect my initial goal was to start a business that would not be costly to begin, and would work well with being a mom.

NAICS: 484 Truck Transportation
Description: dirty deads done dirt cheap
The way I got started in this business was pretty easy for me. I did very similar line of work. I drove an eighteen wheeler before, actually it was my first job. I may have always driven a truck, but I did so for other companies, some longer than others. I had a very good stroke of luck and was able to gain a good chunk of money. This allowed me to make a decision the has so far bettered my life. It's hard work, the days are long, but it's worth it all to be your own boss and you decide how much you make based on how much you want to work. My goal was to better my life and those around me, and to enjoy working for myself, something to pass on or to continue to build it up.

NAICS: 722 Food Services and Drinking Places
Description: 24-hour Dine-In Restaurant
My decision to go into the restaurant industry was based primarily on my personal work experience. I had been working in a restaurant for almost 20 years, which was the entirety of my job history. My first job was as a hostess in a small local diner in my hometown of Seattle, Washington. As I grew and moved, I continued to work in restaurants as a server, then manager, and finally a district manager for a large chain here in Southern California. I had always known that I wanted to eventually own my own business, although I didn’t initially know that I wanted that business to be a restaurant. However, I gained valuable first hand observation and experience in my time working in the restaurant industry. Therefore, when I reached the point at which I was ready to make the leap into owning my own business, it seemed the clear choice.
