NAICS: 446 Health and Personal Care Stores
Description: Full service salon, supply and spa
My passion for the industry lead me to my business. I left my pre med program and highly regarded medical career to pursue my deeply seeded passion for fashion and beauty. My initial goal was to do what made me happy. My husband wasn’t quite on board with my desired career change. He couldn’t quite see the vision I had. We now are the proud owners of 4 successful salons in the Chino Hills, Upland and Rancho Cucamonga areas. Having as much success as we have had has blessed us with a more than comfortable life. We have two boys and aim to lead by example. This has shown them what hard work and dedication can bring. It has also granted us the ability to send both our boys to very prestigious colleges. They have both grown to be very successful and driven young men. When my husband and I were newlyweds we did not have much. Thinking back on our lives then keeps us humble.

NAICS: 561 Administrative and Support Services
Description: comercial cleaning
I decided to get into this business because it was pretty much an easy process. It all started when a friend of my sisters who was the General Manger for a manufacturing facility was complaining about the cleaning service during a conversation. He was saying how he could not believe he was not able to find a reliable source to get the job done right. That night he made a joke to me and said “ You should go into the business of cleaning I bet you can do a better job with your eyes close” At first I didn't think of it much but after going over it I said why not, a new opportunity I could do this as part time as a source off additional income which was my initial goal since the cleaning was only at nights. So I looked into the requirements on how to obtain a business license and did it. I talked to my sisters friend (general manager) and he allowed me to bid on the job. The rest is history, now 3 years and business is growing and is now my full time job. I am now the "competitive price"

NAICS: 611 Educational Services
Description: Swim Instruction
I started swimming when I was a kid. That grew into teaching swimming at the Industry Hills Aquatic Center when I was a teenager. I loved everything about swim practice to life guarding to teaching lessons, the pool was my second home; so I just kind of followed my passion, and I decided to make a business out of what I love doing. My initial goal when I started my company was to pay for college my tuition witch was just under 5k (after all the grants and financial aid). When after doing this part-time and seeing how much money I made, I decided to make swim lessons a full time thing. I eventually took it from just swim lessons to kayaking, water safety, mommy and me, water aerobics, paddle boarding, competitive swim refinement and CPR and first aid certification for families and the community I worked in.

NAICS: 722 Food Services and Drinking Places
Description: Italian Restaurant
My wife and I both grew up in Northern Italy in the town of Verona. When I came to Hollywood I knew that the only business that I was interested in getting into was the restaurant business. I could have gone into many other businesses here in LA because there are so many, but I was looking for stability. People eat everyday and I liked the idea of serving people food everyday. I wanted to serve fresh food that is made of organic and local ingredients that had creativity and our personal touch. You may not make millions of dollars but it is stable business if you do it right and it is very rewarding when people enjoy your food and return again and again for more.

NAICS: 711 Performing Arts, Spectator Sports, and Related Industries
Description: Dance Studio
My daughter attended this dance studio, in the same location. Unfortunately the previous owner decided to run off with everyone’s money. I decided I should take over. I didn’t want to see dancers get discouraged. I mostly did it for my daughter. I know how much she loves dance, and I wanted to make sure she had a safe place to live out her dreams. My initial goal was to create a second home for dancers. Dance has always been apart of my life. I was tired of my previous job. I just really wanted to be able to have fun at work and enjoy coming to work. It doesn't even feel like work anymore. The relationships I’ve made with my students, and the overall dance experience has made all the hard work pay off.

NAICS: 448 Clothing and Clothing Accessories Stores
Description: Clothing Store
I decided to get into this business because I was able to do what I love which is designing. When you are doing something you love, it is never just a job. I was able to share my talents with the public and I am grateful that people admire my talents. I do not really have any goals in doing what I do. I think all I want at the end of the day is just to be happy and thankful that I am not in a profession that can be a dead end in life.

NAICS: 336 Transportation Equipment Manufacturing
Description: Aftermarket Automotive Part Manufacturing
I have always had a passion for the automotive industry. I loved cars since as far back as I can remember and when I got my first car all I could think about was modifying the vehicle. I followed my passion like we are always told and when high school came around I was well involved in cars but I was lead to believe the road for me would ultimately be a technician at a dealership. However when I got involved in the aftermarket I learned the entire business aspect and eventually I learned how to run a business. I managed to be doing what I loved without getting dirty everyday. As I got more and more involved I realized that there was an entire market I could get into. Thus leading to being able to build one of a kind pieces and also making a great living.

NAICS: 311 Food Manufacturing
Description: Bakery
This was a family business and I Inherited it. Initially, this was not something I planned. The goal has always been to stay open and grow. This is possible by keeping a positive attitude and bringing that attitude to work each day. Like attracts like and when you send positive vibes then the rest of your team will feel it. They work hard as a result and it becomes infectious. The goal is to mainly reflect who we are as a business and that our customers are like family. They need to feel that and know that this is a family owned business. It shouldn't be that you tell them it's family owned, they need to feel it through the environment. The goal is to connect with your customers and as a result it will help your business to thrive in the right direction.

I decided to get into this business because I did not want to work for someone else. I felt that I could create more opportunity for myself by starting my own business. The business that I started first was in the ski business, because I grew up as competitive ski racer so I had a lot of knowledge about what I wanted to do in business because of competing in the sport, so it gave me a bit of an advantage over most people.

NAICS: 531 Real Estate
Description: Real estate
" I decided to get into this business because it involves working with people and i have the capability to work with all kinds of people by knowledge. I am able to communicate effectively and i always keep in touch with all of my clients to let them know what is going on. I'm able to lead a team. My education has had a huge role of why I got into real estate. My initial goal to make a career for myself and to be able to provide a lifestyle of my choosing." I believe that having the ability to take care of your customers plays a huge role of having your own business. Taking care of your customers let's them feel secure. Not only being able to communicate with your customers but also your employees. Leading a team is mandatory if your the manager of your own business. Leading a team allows the employees to feel comfortable with their manager or head person in charge. For instance, if your employees need any advice with a transaction, or if they simply have any questions the employees know who to talk to. When I have my own business I would want my employees to feel comfortable with the manager and the work environment.
