NAICS: 541 Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services Description: Marketing Agency (non-traditional) |
| It all started in 2000, I was very passionate about cars and started my own enthusiast car e-zine. Ever since then I was very interested in business and thought about bringing my passion to a career. After waiting a couple years, I discovered a new passion for marketing. In this day of age, marketing has gotten so big and in demand that I felt that it was the perfect industry to face. Fast forward a few more years and here I am today. Apart of [Name Removed], I’ve managed to combine all of my passions: business, cars, and marketing. I feel very fortunate to have everything fall into place like this. My goal was always to have a business, however I would never imagine it to include all 3 of my interests and passions. |

| I began my business planning when I was only in my thirties. I wanted to help people so that I could follow the will of God. It was my first objective to start with as soon as I looked at a person with a mental disability and I felt that I should study psychiatry. My only goal right now is to provide services to a person with developmental disabilities so they can be independent in their living skills. I believe that I am doing gods work to support the needy. He let me do this business to help people. |

NAICS: 711 Performing Arts, Spectator Sports, and Related Industries Description: Wedding and Special Event Entertainment |
| I had a full time career but I just wasn’t making it financially. That was scary, when I quit my job where I had a steady paycheck every two weeks to go into this business with four kids at home. I decided to invest in a business that I could do part time and then grow into a full time business, which finally occurred. I started the business in 1991 and I was a cop until 1999. So eight years I did it part time, pretty much everything that I made the first three years went back into buying equipment. I had previous part time experience with this type of business so the transition was easy. After 8 years part time, I took it full time and the business continues to grow each year. |

NAICS: 445 Food and Beverage Stores Description: Coffee and Sandwich Cafe |
| It started when I was in college at Cal State Fullerton and I needed a part time job to work outside of school for extra money. I worked at a sandwich shop down the street and it was the most fun I’ve ever had. As employees, we were always laughing with each other and the customers loved our enthusiasm and we could tell we had brightened their day by loving our jobs. Out of college I was then running an operation of 200-300 employees as a manager and it was completely different. When the economy dumped in 2008 I found a small coffee shop for sale at a great price, and I took that as an opportunity to get out of the corporate life. I turned the coffee shop to a sandwich shop and café but I kept the originality of it, so I guess I kept it a coffee shop too. And because it had already been running in that spot, it had more than a 50% chance of success. They’ll never tell you this if you’re aspiring to own a restaurant but the food industry has less than a 25% chance of success so it’s highly likely any type of food business won’t succeed. But we did and our shop has grown 10% faster than any of the surrounding businesses. They all think I have some secret marketing skill but I know it’s just the customer service we offer. I make sure my employees enjoy what they do. My goal was to get out of the corporate life and have as much fun as I did working at that sandwich shop in college. I wanted to be happy, and I am now. |

NAICS: 711 Performing Arts, Spectator Sports, and Related Industries Description: Karaoke Bar |
| I never thought I could become an entrepreneur during my university life. Thanks to my brother, he was graduated at that time. However, he went back to visit us and he found there was a huge opportunity for us to start a business. We both knew how important this karaoke industry meant to Asians as an entertainment. Especially in columbus, there was nothing else to relax and having fun. Even though I was not sure to get into the industry, I trusted my brother because he was so confident to get into it. We both had no experience, thus we found two more partners, one is my experienced friend and the other one is an elder guy who really works hard. My initial goal was to earn profit and gained experience. It is always said the first business is not going to earn any money, but I did not want my first business failed. Luckily, the business goes really well, even from the beginning. |

NAICS: 541 Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services Description: Computer Network and Repair Services |
| Starting this business has been a long journey for me. The business planning actually started when I was in eighth grade, I am now thirty. It all started when I had a Job Shadowing opportunity to visit an Internet Service Provider. To most kids it probably would not be all that interesting, but to me the concept of how the hardware, the network, and the UNIX/LINUX based operating systems worked really interested me and really made it an easy decision to set the course I wanted to take for my career. I have worked for companies who specialized in these fields but I was never truly happy with how they ran things and their the lack of knowledge in the field compared to what I knew. After a few years of working for the company I decided to leave and start my own business. I figured if they could set up a business and not know nearly half of what I know in the world of technology then I certainly could start my own business and do well. My initial goal was to find something that I could be really good at and be happy with and enjoy. I focused all my schooling on learning the ins and outs to networking and operating systems. I really enjoy puzzles and how things are put together. Fixing computers for a living is like getting paid to solve puzzles and have fun. I love the challenges of finding solutions to a problem or multiple problems. I enjoy tinkering with gadgets and software so choosing to go into this type of business was quite fitting. |

NAICS: 334 Computer and Electronic Product Manufacturing Description: Laser Micromachining |
| After my first job after graduation as an design engineer, I decided I wanted to become a sales engineer. I didn’t want to waste time on an MBA at that that time, so I sold myself to a company as one. It happened to be a laser outfit. After 7 years, I was a world expert sought after for speaking engagements and interviews for trade magazine articles. Then I got a job for 2 years, a promotion to Marketing Manager reporting to the President. Next I was fed up with working for others and promoted myself to President of my company. I got into the laser business because my senior project in physics at UCLA was about lasers. So I knew about it in detail and that’s what landed me the job plus my persuasive personality and determination. My initial goal was an exciting life visiting customers and enjoying life on the company’s expense account, fine restaurants, worldwide travel and among other things. |
