| As you already know, I do business as a franchisee of (business name). It wasn't my personal decision to start this business, but I did choose to pursue running the business. My initial goal was to gain experience and to grasp a stronger understanding of small business and food/beverage/restaurant management. Eventually, I will use this experience to pursue an MBA and hopefully later open a full-‐service dine in restaurant. |

NAICS: 722 Food Services and Drinking Places Description: Coffee Shop and Hookah bar |
| I decided to get into this type of business after going to business school and owning my first restaurant for seventeen years. As soon as success was established at my first restaurant in La Verne, I decided to expand the business and grow in other locations. My partner and I then realized that it is all up to you to be successful and ensure a stable business. Our high expectations pushed us far ahead of the game and our competitors motivated us to do better and be the best. My initial goal was to grow and move up the chain in locations with a less financially draining business and making sure that my business would sustain itself. |

NAICS: 423 Merchant Wholesalers, Durable Goods Description: Computer Peripheral Equipment and Software |
| I created our company at 2005 and there were not too many companies sell online in China but a lot of companies sell online in foreign countries at that year, especially EBay was very famous in America, and EBay wanted to open the Chinese market. I realize this may be a significant business opportunity! There must be a lot of companies realize this is a significant business opportunity, too. So I consider that offering Computers and Computer Peripheral Equipments and Software to other network sellers may be a good way to earn money. I pay all of my attention to this company and try my best to get the opportunity. And the facts prove that I am right. |

NAICS: 334 Computer and Electronic Product Manufacturing Description: Software development and architexture |
| I lost my job at the time because the Vice president of Development and I did not get along. So my initial was to just have money until I found my next job. I didn’t want to just go and find a job and pick what I had to pick because I needed money. I wanted to like where I was going to work and find something of quality. So while I went through the interviewing process with multiple companies I started consulting for small start-ups and some businesses. I went through the interviewing process for about six months and had some really great offers but none of the positions I was finding where really what I wanted to do. I really like the idea of being the head software architect and having control over the project. So instead of continuing on looking for a job, I stopped and made my own |

NAICS: 524 Insurance Carriers and Related Activities Description: State Farm Car Insurance agency |
| 3. How did you decide to get into this type of business, and what was your initial goal? I always wanted to open up a successful business in the area that I grew up in because, I felt like it would be a good way of being involved in my community. I went to the University of UCLA for college, and they helped me a lot in making goals for my future career. My main goal was to become a successful entrepreneur in the business that I wanted to start. The first year that I started my business, I became very successful in the location that I chose, so I became the second best insurance agent in California in 2009. Since then I have managed to be in the top 5 insurance agent in California and our business has been expanding more and more every day. |

NAICS: 445 Food and Beverage Stores Description: Cake, Chocolate, Decoration, Supplies |
| The story of how I got into my business and my main goal may sound typical but it’s gotten me to where I am now. It was my son’s first birthday and I had ordered a cake from this bakery to be served at his party, however, after taking the cake home and opening the box I found not only had they misspelled my son’s name wrong but also had given me the wrong kind of cake from the one I had ordered. I was embarrassed yet had no choice but to serve this disappointment to my party guests. I went back later to complain to the bakery that not only had they misspelled my son’s name but had given me the wrong kind of cake, but their response wasn't what I expected. They simply asked if I had still served and eaten the cake and treated the whole situation as if it was nothing which really upset me. It may not seem like a big deal to most people but to me it was because I knew I could never get that day, that moment, back and it would forever hold the memory of the misspelled name and wrong kind of cake for his first birthday. I had looked around while there to complain and in the end decided that if they could do it and mess up that badly then why couldn't someone like me do it too when I know I could get it right? And so, thirty years later, my business is thriving and surviving. My goal for my entire start up idea to the business was college for my sons. When they were still young I had begun to put away money from my business profits into a college fund set up for each of them knowing they would be covered whether they wanted to go to college or not. When the time came and my eldest son went to college he called home worried over the large bill needed to be paid for his schooling. I simply told him to bring it down and not to worry. It was then that I revealed to both of my sons the money I had put away and to this day neither of my sons has ever taken out a student loan of any kind of has any kind of credit card debt or anything of the like. My goal was reached and I have my business to thank for saving my sons from any financial trouble in their college schooling. |

NAICS: 722 Food Services and Drinking Places Description: Family Restaurant |
| INT: Well as you know already it’s a family operated business so I guess you can say I was somewhat born into it really. ME: When you put it that way it makes sense, but realistically if you wanted to you could have left to college right after high school and opted out for your own personal type of future; and maybe even still shared the benefits of the family business. Tell me why you didn’t do that, or maybe what really attracted you to stay and co-operate the place. INT: Growing up and being the the oldest child and only boy of the family, I sort of adopted that feeling of obligation and responsibility and eventually I became that 2nd father figure in the family, and pretty much accepted those responsibilities you know. You know as well as I do my dad looks to me for help just as much as I look to him for help, and honesty speaking I love it; I wouldn’t want anything else in the world right now. ME: That’s amazing it really is.. What’s your initial, or I guess in this case, long term goal? INT: As of right now I am going to keep doing what I do, as far as long term I do know we plan on opening up a few more restaurants; but of course right now its just a goal, and we need to work our way up the ladder a bit more first before we can make a leap like that. |
