NAICS: 448 Clothing and Clothing Accessories Stores
Description: Street wear & skate shop
I had a fairly good amount of money saved up and when my partner asked if I would like to invest in a skate shop business that was opening up, I jumped on it. I invested my money in the skateboard shop and initially my goal was that once it was up and running I would make my investment back and everything after that was profit for my partner and I. It wouldn't be profit that was going into our pockets necessarily but profit to help the business grow and that could help expand our capabilities. Unfortunately It didn't quite go down as I had hoped. My partner felt quickly discouraged when business didn't start off so hot so he eventually backed out of the project and I decided I would do my best to keep the business going individually.

Basically I was already doing it for fun and hook my friends up with good prices. I just did it because it will make me a little bit of money here and there. My actual goal was to actually give my friends good prices in car part that they wanted because I had some good connections. So what end up happening was that I started doing it part-time then I started making good money then finally making it as a full time gig.

NAICS: 561 Administrative and Support Services
Description: Landscaping
The major reason that I got into this business was to support my family. Its hard work, but the pay put food on the table for my family. It all started when I got a job with a man that I worked with for over five years. After the five years I saved up enough money to open up my own business. I began to love the outdoors which made me enjoy my job. I got used to my surrounding so it was easy to start it up. I have been doing this for around thirty years now and I can continue this until I can’t stand any longer. My goal was to support my family and do something that I enjoyed.

NAICS: 112 Animal Production
Description: Therapeutic Riding For Disabled
What helped me to choose this career was my love for horses, my history of working well with them, along with my passion to help those in need. I want be able to encourage understanding and show individuals the true benefits and the power horses have to help heal humans both physically and emotionally. You have to want to instruct those who might need Physical, Cognitive, Social, Emotional, and Behavioral help with issues or help learning to control their body. At the Therapeutic Riding Program all three sides must work equally well together, become valuable to others around you, and we are proud to inspire self-growth in our students as they learn to ride. Our goals are to provide quality equine assistance to individuals with disabilities and to further encourage independent development through physical, cognitive, social, emotional and educational benefits. We invite you to come visit our ranch, possibly consider volunteering and then get to see the children’s smiles, laughter and growth that soar from our facility.

NAICS: 722 Food Services and Drinking Places
Description: Pub and Eatery
This is an interesting question. Originally I worked in the nightclub industry and owned several clubs in Orange County. One of the nightclubs I owned I ended up remodeling into a sports bar and it was a huge success. I looked around for a while, and then I came across this pub. I did my homework for this place. I learned that this was a great company, is all about the brand, it has a lot of integrity, and it respects women. A lot of places become so impersonal after a while, but this is not one of them. We love our guests and always want them to come back. We love to hire girls that are in college because I feel as if this is a stepping stone job for what is to come in the future for our employees. Most of our girls work part-time because they are in school and we encourage that. We are flexible to where we can work with almost any type of school schedule. We hired managers who are used to working with females and who have experience with most issues that come about.

NAICS: 541 Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services
Description: Photography
I love the simplicity of an image, a moment captured, which can be remembered over and over again. Photography, whether I call it my career or hobby, it has become a true love of my life. Since the age of twelve my big sister Suzanne had become my best client. White sheets pinned on the bedroom walls, a few dabs of red lipstick and a 24-roll disposable camera was all we needed for our Vogue inspired photo-shoots. I can clearly recall the excitement as if it were yesterday, running up to the photo center at Wal-Mart or Costco, I would shuffle through the D's to find my pack of prints. I would be devastated on the days they hadn't been processed. I can proudly say I have come a long way since those days and I am so thankful to the wonderful mentors I have had along the way.

NAICS: 722 Food Services and Drinking Places
Description: Dessert Parlor
I have always loved cooking and I always knew that I wanted to be involved in the food industry when I'm older. I worked for about five different restaurants before I opened my own business. I knew that I did not want to work under a corporation for the rest of my life. I've always had this passion to open my own restaurant. After college, I traveled all over Europe and Asia and just wanted to take a break from working. After traveling, I was inspired to open up a fusion restaurant. I actually spent about 6-7 months in Las Vegas attempting to find a location to open up my business. Unfortunately, I was not able to find a good and affordable location. As I kept searching for locations, I found this venue in West Covina with a small kitchen and the current owner at that time was in desperate need to get rid of it, so I got this location for a pretty good offer that I could not refuse. I opened up this dessert parlor because I wanted to create something different. I wanted to stand out from other dessert places such as frozen yogurt stores.

The reason that he wants to get into wine businesses is because he got many friends on this industry. According what he said, he can get the products faster and cheaper, which make him much easier on this business. However, because the new policy of China, the restriction of high costs on fetes, many wine companies are shutting down, and the wine businesses are even harder to survive. But it also can be a opportunity, he said. Because he just got friend in these businesses, he got advantages to compete with other company, and wine companies are shutting down which means less competitors. In these such good conditions, he just started this new company. For his initial goal, he explained that because of the world economy down turn, his mining businesses were losing the money, and if he didn’t do something to earn money, he will be broke. The wine company is just one company he makes up to mining business, and he also got a construction company that has same function for him as wine company.
